Lady Warriors down Owen J. Roberts, force one game play-in with Boyertown

It didn’t come easily for Methacton Tuesday night. With their PAC-10 Final Four playoff hopes on the line, the Warriors got all they could handle from stubborn Owen J. Roberts in the regular season league finale for both teams. But when the struggle was finally over and Methacton had survived, 48-39, the Warriors (10-3 league, 18-4 overall) found themselves exactly where they needed to be - tied with Boyertown for the second place in the Liberty Division.
Kelsey Watson poured in a career-high 30 points to lead Methacton, which will face the Bears (10-3, 16-6) Thursday night at Spring-Ford (7 p.m.) for the final league playoff berth. The winner of that clash will draw Frontier Division champion Pope John Paul II Saturday (6 p.m.) in the opener of a Final Four semifinal twinbill at Spring-Ford.
Watson had 19 points in the first half alone as the Warriors seized a 24-15 lead at the break. After going up 36-25 entering the fourth quarter, Methacton nearly let it get away during a furious Wildcats’ comeback that cut the deficit to 4 with 2:20 left. But Watson hit two clutch jumpers and the Lady warriors made a few clutch free throws to put things away.
