Del Vecchio Leads Methacton over PJP II

Methacton jumped out to a 6-1 first quarter lead as they hosted Pope John Paul II at Phoenixville High School.  The Warriors used a balanced attack and strong unsettled play to open the scoring as Aidan Denecke found the net for his fourth goal of the year.  The Panthers quickly responded with a Wayne Mitchell goal in a fast break on the ensuing faceoff.

The rest of the first quarter would be all Green and White as strong transition lacrosse found multiple player scoring, including Senior Michael Del Vecchio who would score four on the day and add an assist to lead the hosts.

The second quarter was much of the same as Methacton netted four more as the visiting Panthers added a tally of their own.  Strong ground ball play was the common theme for Methacton that created a number of transition opportunities.

Scoring slowed in the second half, as Methacton would net three more to extend the lead with PJP II scoring once more.

The final quarter saw lots of subsitutions by both teams as PJP would score four times to the Warriors one goal bringing the final to 14-7.

Del Vecchio led all scorers with 5 points, while his fellow attackmen Aidan Denecke and Connor Stevenson would add three and two goals respectively.  Five more Warriors found the net as Zach Bodek, Ryan O'Toole, Kyle Kacala, Harvey Smith and Conner Derrickson would add to the box score.  Senior LSM Zach Bodek led the team with 6 ground balls while Jake Blitzer earned the win turning away 5 shots while allowing only 4 goals.

The Warriors continue their PAC-10 schedule with a visit to league foe Pottsgrove on Monday.
