If your athlete sustains an injury during their sport participation, the athletic trainers are available to evaluate and provide participation and treatment recommendations. Depending on the severity of the injury, parents may be notified via phone, or the athlete may be sent home with an injury report giving injury instructions and follow-up care. Recommendations for physician evaluation may also be given. If an athlete sees a physician (including, but not limited to, emergency departments, walk-in clinics, primary care doctors, or orthopedists), a physician-signed note must be presented to the athletic trainer prior to participation. The note must include the date, physician's signature, diagnosis of injury, and participation/treatment instructions. If you need help facilitating an appointment for your child, please reach out to your school's athletic trainer, found here, for orthopedic appointments with one of Jefferson's orthopedic physicians. Athletes can typically be seen within 48 hours.
