Girls LAX Dominates Phoenixville in PAC-10 Semi-Finals

The Warriors dominated Phoenixville from start to finish in the PAC-10 semi-finals at Owen J Roberts Tuesday night, coming away with a 15-3 victory. Freshman Ellie Schmidt opened up the scoring for the Warriors off a feed from Senior Abby Devlin three minutes into the game. Devlin scored the next goal with 19 minutes left in the first half to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Phoenixville got on the board but Methacton answered back with a 9 goal run to finish up the first half with an 11-1 lead. Devlin started the run off a feed from Kellett. Senior Sara Watro got on the board to push the Warriors lead to three. Sophomore Alexa Maloney scored off a feed from Senior Megan Nearing for a 5-1 advantange. Nearing added one goal of her own at the 13:10 mark before Kellett gave the Warriors a 7-1 lead off a Phoenixville turnover. Kellett, Watro, Maloney, and Nearing finished out the scoring in the first half for Methacton.

The Warriors scored four of the six goals in the second half. Kellett opened up the second half scoring two goals at the 23:07 mark and over ten minutes later at the 12:50 mark. Devlin added her third of the game to give the Warriors a 14-1 advantage before the Phantoms got two quick goals. Kellett finished the scoring with her fifth of the game with 1:30 left. 

Senior Rikki Moore and Junior Alyssa Rothman split time in the cage for Methacton. Moore made 5 saves and Rothman stopped 6 Phoenixville shots. Both Moore and Rothman collected 2 ground balls. Sophomore Megan Gehret collected 5 ground balls while Kellett, Junior Gabby Numerato, and Gehret each got 2 draw controls. Gehret and Junior Megan Earley each caused Phoenixville to turn the ball over 3 times. 

The Warriors will face Boyertown in the PAC-10 championship for the third year in a row. The game will be Friday night (5/13) at 5pm at Spring-Ford. Boyertown beat Upper Perk 14-5 in the second game at OJR. Methacton's record is now 14-5.
