Girls LAX Comes Up Short in PAC-10 Championship

Boyertown defeated Methacton 13-7 in a hard fought PAC-10 Championship game Friday at Spring-Ford's Coach McNelly Stadium. Boyertown opened up with a three goal run before Senior Emily Kellett got the Warriors on the board. The Bears answered with a goal at the 13:31 mark then Senior Megan Nearing scored her two goals of the game to cut the Bears lead to one, 4-3 Boyertown. Less than 30 seconds after Nearings second tally, Boyertown scored to make it a 5-3 game. Senior Sara Watro was able to get the Warriors within one goal before the half.
Leading 5-4 at half, Boyertown opened up with a four goal run, increasing their lead to 9-4. Junior Gabby Numerato was able to weave through several Boyertown defenders and beat the keeper with a high shot with 8:42 left in the game .The Bears were able to go on another four goal run before Kellett scored on an assist from Senior Abby Devlin with 3:07 left in the game. Junior Anna-Marie Warrington closed out the scoring for the Warriors with 1:27 on the clock.
Senior Rikki Moore finished the game with 6 saves. Sophomore Megan Gehret collected a team high four controlled turn over and one interception while Devlin scooped up five ground balls. Methacton's record is now 14-7. The Warriors will now wait to see who they will face in districts starting Tuesday. The seeding meeting is Sunday at 1pm.
