Warrior Profile: Sean Aronow

Updated on 06/10/2022

Methacton "Warrior of the Day" :  Sean Aronow

Throughout the season we will be profiling different members of the team who earn the honor or "Warrior of the Day."  Coaches select players who display "an attitude and work ethic consistent with the highest principles of interscholastic competition and represent our school, community, and program in a positive manner."

Sean Aronow, a senior attackman, was selected as the "Warrior of the Day" following his efforts in the opening game against Pennsbury.  Sean led the attack with three ground balls on the day and added an assist in the effort.  However, his efforts weren't fully demonstrated in stats alone.

Coach Ryan noted, "Sean was instrumental in our offensive sets.  In addition to having a good understanding of what we are trying to do, Sean brings athleticism and intelligence to the position.  Moreover, Sean is a force in the riding game helping to generate more possessions.  We know that regardless of outcome, we will receive maximum effort from Sean and that he'll lead by his actions both on and off the field."

In addition to lacrosse, Sean started on the boys soccer team in the fall and hopes to continue his athletic pursuits collegiately.

Coach Ryan added "Sean is certainly the type of player we pride ourselves on having in this program and is a great representation of the student athlete we strive for here at Methacton."

Boys Lacrosse Names Captains

Updated on 06/10/2022

Boys Lacrosse name three Senior Co-Captains

Cody Ridgway, Anthony DeSana, and Scott Markle have been named co-captains for the 2011 boys' lacrosse season.  Markle, a senior defenseman and goalie is the only returning captain, having filled the role last year as a junior.  As a first team All-League selection last year Markle joins DeSana, a 2nd team selection, at the close defensive position.  Ridgway, also a 2nd team selection last year, represents the offensive side of the ball.

Coach Ryan says "both on and off the field, all three of these young man have filled valuable leadership roles for our program and we're excited to have them leading for us this year.  They represent in full what we believe the true student athlete is at Methacton showing excellence in the classroom as well as on the field."

Markle, a Senior defenseman begins his final season this year after playing on the varisty Soccer, Football, and Basketball teams.  A converted goalie, Markle brings range and athleticism to the defensive side of the ball and often matches against the other teams most elusive attackman.

DeSana is a physical presence on the defensive side of the ball as well and often finds himself matched up with opposing team's leading scorers.  A sharp defensive mind Anthony is a vocal leader for a defense that ranked among the top of the league last year in goals against.

Ridgway, a senior attackman, returns as the team's leading scorer.  He presents one of the toughest matchups for opposing defense as he serves as both a creator, and finisher for the Warrior's offense.

Methacton plays its first scrimmage of the year tomorrow at home against Souderton.   They follow with a playday on Saturday at the Shipley school where they will match up against Shipley as well as St. Andrews (DE).  Both scrimmages serve as a warm up for the Warriors first game of the year, an out of conference tilt against Pennsbury on March 25th.
