Warriors Unable to Overcome 7-1 Deficit

Methacton boys lacrosse team fell to a 7-1 deficit against the visiting Spring-Ford Rams but was able to mount a furios comeback on their home field.  Following sloppy clearing and long offensive possessions for the visitors, the lead stretched to 4-0 before Freshman Attackman Aidan Denecke found the back of the net to put the Warriors on the board.  The Rams would add two more goals before Denecke would go on a tear scoring three more goals in a row for the Warriors.

Coach Ryan noted of Denecke "Aidan stepped up for us today in a big way.  It's really impressive to see a player of his age as mature as he is.  He's a natural scorer and really carried us today for a bit."  Sophomore Keith White would add an individual tally and Spring-Ford would find the net once more to take an 8-5 lead into the half.

As they have all year, Methacton set the tone in the second half.  Goals by Senior Luke Herber, Denecke, and Senior Ben Schimpf would close the gap to one before the Rams stretched the lead back to 10-8 to close the third quarter.  The fourth quarter would see both teams add two more goals a piece as the Rams were able to successfully salt away the lead.

Coach Ryan spoke of the effort "I was really proud of how our guys battled back today.  Unfortunately, you can't give an excellent team like Spring-Ford that kind of lead and expect to be successful.  I thought a number of guys had great days for us including Andrew DeSana who held their leading scorer to a goal and and assist.  We hope to have another crack at these guys in the postseason."

The Warriors fall to 8-5 (7-3 PAC-10) and travel to Boyertown tomorrow for a 7:00 PAC-10 contest.
