Warriors Win 2nd Straight PAC-10 Matchup

Behind solid goalkeeping and stifling defense Methacton's boys lacrosse team won their 2011 home opener.  After starting with five straight games on the road the boys donned the home whites for the first time this year and managed to defeat neighboring Perkiomen Valley by a final of 6-1.

The opening of the game saw the visitors find the net first to take a 1-0 lead in the first quarter.  It would be the last time they held the lead all day.  Senior Clay Sobocinski drew Methacton even with an extra man goal for his 9th goal of the year.  It was the first of three extra man goals on the day for Methacton.  Methacton took the lead on a Sean Aronow goal and managed to put two more on the board to take a 4-1 lead into the half.

The third quarter saw Methacton add two more as Aronow netted his 4th of the day and Pete Alloway scored his 2nd of the year.

Coach Ryan noted "Sean Aronow was great for us today.  He is usually a big part of our offense but not always the finisher but he did everything well today from ground balls to possession and scoring."

Another star for the day was the defensive side of the ball.  Goalie Ryan Murphy made 8 saves while allowing a single goal.  Much of the credit has to go to the six guys in front of him as the close defensemen, longstick midfielders, and shortstick defensive specialists frustrated the visitors.

"Our defense was outstanding today.  They put a lot of pressure on the ball, slid and communicated well and were strong off the ground " said Coach Ryan.

With the win Methacton improves to 4-2 overall (3-1 PAC-10) and travels to Pope John Paul on friday for another PAC-10 game.
