Warriors Stymie Aces in Out-of-Conference Match-up

Methacton was able to parlay a 5-4 halftime lead into an 8-7 win in their 4th road victory of the season.  Lower Merion opened the scoring in the first quarter with an unassisted talley and took a 2-0 lead on another individual effort just three minutes later.

The visiting Warriors got on the board with a transition goal while man down as Sean Aronow found Brian Vawter on the back pipe who threw a fake and finished the play.

The Aces of Lower Merion stretched the lead to 2 again in the second quarter but Methacton scored the next two to tie the game at three apiece on goals by Clay Sobocinski and Matt Brasher.  Cody Ridgway gave Methacton the lead as he put away a Sobocinski feed but Lower Merion quickly responded with an unassisted effort to knot the game at four apiece.  With time winding down in the first half Matt Brasher pushed around the back of the cage and finished low for his second of the day to give the visitors a 1 goal advantage going into the halftime break.

The Aces were the first on the board to open the second half, but Matt Brasher continued his scoring by putting away another unassisted goal with just under 8 minutes left in the period.  The hosts, however, would respond under a minute later and the third quarter ended with the game tied at 6 all.

The fourth quarter would continue the back and forth swing as the hosts found the net to take a one goal lead.  Methacton quickly responded as Sean Aronow scored on a goal assisted by Ridgway and the game would continue back and forth with transistion both ways with both teams unable to find the net.

With under two minutes remaining, the Warrior defense forced a turnover and Senior Anthony DeSana cleared the ball into the offensive end where Methacton called a timeout with 1:26 left in the contest.  The Warriors came out of the timeout looking for the last shot of the day, but an opportunity presented itself quickly as Ridgway pressed from behind the goal, drew a slide, and found Matt Brasher uncovered on the crease.  Brasher finished his fourth of the day on Ridgways team high third assist with 36 seconds left in the contest.

Lower Merion won the ensuing faceoff and called a timeout to set up a final shot.  As a Lower Merion midfielder pushed across the front of the goal using a number of on ball picks, Senior Scott Markle threw a perfectly timed trail check to force the turnover and ice the win.

Methacton improves to 5-2 overall (3-1 PAC-10) and heads into an important match-up against league rival Spring-Ford on Monday as continue their road game schedule.
