Warriors Fall in Home Opener

The Warriors opened their 2016 season by hosting the Patriots of Great Valley and the visitors proved to be too much for the hosts as they jumped out to a quick and decisive lead which proved insurmountable.  

Great Valley opened the scoring in the first 15 seconds as ther long stick midfielder took the opening faceoff, evaded defensive pressure and found the net.  The visitors would use a suffocating defense, strong work at the faceoff x, and outstanding shooting to build an 8-0 lead before the hosts finally found the board on a Kyle Derrickson goal in transition off a feed from Aidan Denecke.  Great Valley extended the lead to 10-1 until a heads up play from sophomore Kyle Kacala as he found the net after a feed from Senior Connor Stevenson as the clock hit zero on the first half of play.  

The second half saw more balanced action as the visiting Patriots outscored the Warriors 6-5 over the final 24 minutes.  

Aidan Denecke lead the Warriors in points with 2 goals and 2 assists while Sophomore Stanley Kolimago added two goals.  Senior Gil Price added a single tally while Kacala and Derrickson added one each.  

Methacton returns to action tomorrow as they travel to league foe Owen J. Roberts to open their PAC-10 schedule with a 7:00 pm night game.
