Kacala, Denecke Lead Warriors to First PAC-10 Win

Methacton hosted the Panthers of PJP II in their first home PAC-10 game and while the Panthers took the early lead, strong faceoff work and a big day from Sophomore Kyle Kacala and Senior Aidan Denecke led the Warriors to their first win of the 2016 season.  

Despite winning the opening faceoff, Methacton trailed early as Pope John Paul II opened the scoring just over a minute into play as they found net in some strong transition play.  The Warriors answered back just 10 seconds later as Junior Defenseman Kyle Derrickson picked up a ground ball off the faceoff and found the net himself for his second goal of the year.  Methacton scored again 20 seconds later to take a 2-1 advantage as Sophomore Stanlet Kolimago won the faceoff and beat the Panther's netminder.  

The Warriors would however, see that lead dissipate as the visitors found cutters on two separate occasions to take a 3-2 lead.  Senior Gil Price scored his second of the year on a feed from Sophomore Kyle Kacala and the Kacala added another on a Denecke helper to take the lead for good with just under three minutes left in the quarter.  Kacala netted three in the second quarter and Denecke added the final tally to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.  

Methacton would dominate the second half outscoring the visitors 4-1 over the final 24 minutes.  Stanley Kolimago and Ryan O'Toole controlled the x going a combined 14-22 on the day.  Junior Goalie Harvey Smith made 7 saves will allowing only 5 goals on the day as well.  

Methacton returns to action on Wednesday of next week as they play Pottsgrove in their third PAC-10 tilt of the year.
