Warriors Overcome Sluggish Start

Methacton played host to the visiting Falcons of Pottsgrove on a windy April day at Warrior Field.  Methacton jumped out to an early 2-0 first quarter lead as Ryan O'Toole and Cam Sikora each found the net on individual efforts from the midfield.

The second quarter, however, would be all Pottsgrove as Brendan Wurtz and Wyatt Porter each found the net to draw the game to a 2-2 tie.  The Warriors, behind strong faceoff work from Stanley Kolimago and O'Toole, would have much of the possession with little to show for it as the game stayed knotted after the first 24 minutes.

Pottsgrove would open the scoring in the second half as Porter tallied another individual effort dodging from the midfield.  Junior Captain Kyle Derrickson would notch the Warriors third goal just over two minutes later as he took a ground ball from the defensive end, cleared it himself, and beat the Pottsgrove goalie to drawn even.

The teams would exchange the lead again as Walton scored on another individual effort and Senior Aidan Denecke answered for the hosts on an O'Toole feed.  O'Toole would then notch another off a Kolimago helper to give the hosts the lead for good with just 2:35 minutes left in the third quarter.  Kolimago would again find O'Toole, this time on a man up situation and O'Toole caught the ball on the crease and buried his third of the day.

Kyle Derrickson ended the third quarter scoring his second of the day on a beautiful give an go in transition from Denecke.  Both Pottsgrove and Methacton would find the net once more each in the fourth quarter but the lead proved too much for the visitors as the Warriors closed out the 8-5 victory to improve to 2-2 Overall (2-1 PAC-10).

Methacton returns to action on Friday as they host league rival Perk Valley in a game that will have serious PAC-10 Final Four playoff implications.
