Warriors Fall on the Road Against Boyertown

Slow starts have plagued Methacton this year and another slow start doomed the Warriors as their comeback fell short on the road against Boyertown.  The game opened with Methacton gaining possession on the faceoff and while they generated a good offensive look Boyertown goalie Gavin Yingling made a tremedous save to keep the guests off the board.  The Bears took the ball in transition and scored the opening goal to garner a lead that they would never relinquish throughout the game.

The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Tanner Lee and Zack Derstine before Aidain Denecke would answer with his first of the day.  Boyertown extended the lead to 3-1 on a Jason Clinton individual tally, but Stanley Kolimago answered off a feed from Kyle Kacala to draw to 3-2.  Clinton again would find the net to make the score 4-2.

Boyertown won the ensuing faceoff and Pierce Wright scored what looked to be the hosts 5th goal.  However, an illegal stick penalty took the goal off the board and gave Methacton a man advantage for a 3 minute non-releasable penalty.  Unfortunately the Warriors were unable to capitalize as an unforced turnover lead to a Boyertown man-down goal.  The Bears would add two more man-down tallies and ultimately extended their lead to the 11-4 halftime margin.

Methacton came to life in the second half and despite sloppy play from both teams was able to outscore Boyertown 6-3 in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  The margin was cut to 13-10 on a transition goal from Freshman Jack Pellegrino with an assist from defenseman Kyle Derrickson.  Unfortunately that would be as close as it got as Boyertown scored the final goal as the Warriors were extending with under two minutes to play.

With the loss Methacton falls to 3-4 (2-3 PAC-10) and have a day off before visiting league foe Phoenixville on Friday night.
