Kacala's 9 Point Evening Spooks the Phantoms

The Methacton boys lacrosse team is new to playing at home under the lights, as Tuesday's contest was only the second time in history for a home night game.  The atmosphere however, seems to suit them as they were able to improve to 2-0 on the year in that venue with a victory over visiting Phoenixville.

The first quarter saw lots of back and forth play with neither team able to take advantage.  Goalie Harvey Smith was solid for the Warriors, holding the visiting Phantoms at bay.  With under a minute to play, Senior attackman Aidan Denecke broke through for Methacton, beating the Phantom's goalie for his first of the day.  The Warriors would dominate the second quarter as they tallied four more goals while holding the visitors at bay to take a 5-0 lead into the half.

The second half would see an offensive explosion for Methacton as they found the net 7 times in the quarter, often behind strong unsettled play.  Junior Attackman Kyle Kacala lead the team with 9 points on the evening as he netted four while assisting on five others.  Goalie Harvey Smith allowed only one goal against in over 32 minutes of play.  The lead would be 12-2 at the end of the third quarter.  Each team would find the net three more times each to reach the final 15-5 margin.  With the win, Methacton improves to 8-8 on the year (6-7 PAC-10).  They face league leading Spring-Ford on Thursday in their final leage matchup of the year.
