Girls LAX drops home opener to Spring-Ford 5-4

Senior Alexa Maloney took a feed from Junior Ellie Schmidt and deposited in the back of the goal with 16 minutes left to put the Warriors up 4-3 over PAC-10 rival Spring-Ford but it wasn't enough as the visiting Rams scored two more goals to go home with a hard fought 5-4 victory. Schmidt gave the Warriors a 1-0 lead but Spring-Ford answered right back to make it 1-1. The Rams would score again before Freshman Maddie Alderfer scored on an assist from Maloney to tie the game at 2-2. Spring-Ford was able to tack on another tally, taking a 3-2 lead into halftime. Freshman Deb Peifer opened the scoring in the second half off a feed from Schmidt to tie it up before Maloney would put the Warriors ahead for the final time. Spring-Ford scored two unanswered goals to secure the win. The Defensive trio of Senior Vanessa Fulton, Junior Kristen McCrane, & Sophomore Morgan Herber kept the Warriors in the game collecting a total of 9 ground balls and causing Spring-Ford to turn the ball over a total of 7 times. Sophomore Sam Rothman had 4 stops in cage.
Methacton returns to action Monday at defending PAC-10 Champion Boyertown, at 3:45.
