Senior Megan Nearing scored the game winning goal 39 seconds into overtime to give the Warriors a hard fought non league victory on a rainy Saturday against Avon Grove.

Avon Grove struck first in the soggy affair. The Warriors scored the next five goals to take a commanding 5-1. Nearing found fellow Senior Sara Watro in from of the cage to tie the game at 1 all. Nearing scored her first goal of the game on an assist from Danielle Schanbacher to put the Warriors ahead 2-1. Senior Emily Kellett scored the first of her five goals to make it 3-1.  Junior Anna-Marie Warrington deposited in the next two Methacton goals on assists from Kellett to make it 5-1. Avon Grove fought back with the next two goals before Kellett scored to make it 6-3. Avon Grove scored twice more to shorten the Warriors lead to 6-5. Nearing rounded out the scoring in the first half with another tally on an assist from Kellett to make it 7-5.

Avon Grove opened the scoring in the second half to get within a goal before goals from Senior Abby Devlin and Kellett. Avon Grove was not backing down, scoring again to make it 9-7.  Goals from Schanbacher and Watro gave the Warriors a two goal advantage once again, but Methacton could not hold on to the lead. The Red Devils scored the next 4 goals to tie the game at 11. Kellett put Methacton ahead 12-11 but Avon Grove answered right back tieing the game. Kellett once again, put the Warriors ahead 13-12 and Warrington adding another goal to make it 14-12 but the Warriors could not maintain the lead as Avon Grove scored the final two goals tieing the game at 14 all at the end of regulation.  

Methacton won the draw in overtime and the Warriors went on the attack. Nearing found herself open around the crease and took a beautiful feed from Kellett and slammed in it the back of the net giving Methacton a sudden-victory overtime win.  Senior Rikki Moore once again, had a solid game in goal, saving 15 Red Devil shots. 

The Warriors are now 5-0 in the PAC-10, 7-1 overall. Methacton returns to action Monday at Pottstown. Game time is scheduled for 3:45pm.
