Girls LAX win PAC-10 match-up vs Pottstown

Methacton came away with a 15-6 league win in Pottstown Monday afternoon. The Warriors struck first when Senior Danielle Schanbacher picked up a loose ball in front of the cage and slammed it home to make it 1-0. Pottstown quickly answered back winning the next draw and coming right down the field to tie it up 1-1. Senior Sara Watro gave the Warriors the lead 2-1 and they would never look back. Junior Anna-Marie Warrington would go on to score the next two Methacton goals for a 4-1 lead.  Pottstown got back on the board with a scoring make it 4-2 then Senior Megan Nearing took a feed from Sara Watro to answer back for a 5-2 lead. After a great defensive stance, Pottstown scored on a free position to cut the lead 5-3. 

Nearing struck again on a feed from Senior Emily Kellett to make it 6-3. Watro found the back of the cage for a 7-3 Warrior advantage. Pottstown scored again on a free position to halt Methacton's scoring run with their 4th goal of the game. The Warriors were able to put two more in the cage before halftime, Sophomore Megan Gehret scored her first goal of the season, and Nearing had another goal for a 9-4 halftime advantage. 

Methacton scored the first three goals of the second half, Warrington, Kellett and Watro each found the back of the cage for a 12-4 advantage before a Pottstown attacker rolled the crease and made the score 12-5. Schanbacher weaved her way through several Pottstown defenders to answer right back. Senior Olivia Ost took advantage of a Pottstown defender running the ball out of bounds to make the score 14-5. Pottstown was able to gain control of the next draw and was fouled in Warriors defensive end. The Trojans scored on the free position to cut the score 14-6. Methacton took the next draw down on the attacking end and Freshman Ellie Schmidt was able to score her first goal of the season to seal with win. 

Senior Rikki Moore led a great defensive effort for Methacton stopping 12 and only allowing 6. Both Methacton and Pottstown took 26 shots. Defensively, Schmidt lead the Warriors with 5 ground balls. Senior Abby Devlin, Warrington, and Gehret each had an interception. Methacton is now 8-1 overall, 6-0 in the PAC-10. Methacton will host Pottsgrove Wednesday afternoon at 3:45pm.
