Girls LAX Rebounds With Big Win Over OJR

Methacton opened up to a 4-0 lead and cruised to the win 18-7 over league rival, Owen J Roberts. Senior Megan Nearing opened up the game with a nice quick stick goal on a feed from Junior Anna-Marie Warrington to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.  Fellow Senior Sara Watro quickly made it 2-0. Senior Abby Devlin dodged through several Wildcat defenders to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead. Devlin collected her second goal of the game by flicking a rebound into the top of the cage to give Methacton a 4-0 lead. The Wildcats gained possession of the next draw control and found Emily Kolsevich open for a quick shot, getting OJR on the board at 4-1. Methacton would answer right back with another goal from Watro on a beautiful feed from Senior Emily Kellett. Kellett collected a season high 6 assists on the day. Nearing would go on to score two more goals on feeds from Kellett and an free position goal by Junior Megan Earley would give the Warriors an 8-1 lead. The Wildcats scored off a Warrior transition breakdown to cut the lead to 8-2, but Freshman Ellie Schmidt fired in a feed from Kellett. Kellett won the next draw and fed Watro to a 10-2 lead. OJR would score again before halfime, giving the Warriors a 10-3 at the break.

The Wildcats scored the first goal of the second half before the duo of Watro & Kellett would strike again making the score Methacton 11, OJR 4. Nearing fired home a free position, Senior Olivia Ost scored off a feed from Kellett,  and Nearing would score again picking up a loose ground ball and depositing it in the back of the cage giving the hosts a 14-4 lead and a running game clock. Ost would add an insurance goal for the Warriors before the Wildcats answered with a two goal run. Nearing, Sophomore Alexa Maloney, and Warrington scored for the Warriors bringing their total to 18. OJR scored the final goal of the game, 18-7. 

Methacton played excellent defense, lead by Seniors Rikki Moore, Nicole Rossi, and Kayla Murphy. Moore collected 10 saves on the day for the win. Sophomore Megan Gehret collected a team high 4 draw controls, while Schmidt scooped up 5 ground balls. Earley lead the team with 2 interceptions. 

Methacton is now 10-2 overall, 8-1 in PAC-10 play. Methacton will play at Spring-Ford Friday night in Coach McNelly Stadium at 7:30pm.
