Girls LAX Wins Thriller at Spring-Ford

SPRING-FORD SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL: 9

Senior Abby Devlin took a feed from Senior Emily Kellett at the top of the 8 meter arc and fired home a bounce shot to give Methacton the win at Spring-Ford Friday Night. Devlin scored the game winner with 15.9 seconds remaining to give Methacton their only lead of the night.  Spring-Ford jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead which stood for most of the first half. The Rams scored again with just 8 minutes to go in the first half for a 2-0 lead. At half, Methacton was down 5-0, but quickly scored the first goal of the second half, Senior Megan Nearing dished the ball off to Kellett and cut around the cage to receive the feed from Kellett and deposited the ball in the back for the cage, Methacton 1 Spring-Ford 5. Kellett then ripped a shot from the right side of the cage to give cut the Rams lead 2-5. Spring-Ford answered right back after the draw, but Devlin was able to find an open lane for a 3-6 Ram lead.  Junior Anna Marie Warrington and Nearing scored for the Warriors to get them within one of Spring-Ford but the Rams were able to score again to take a two goal lead, 5-7.  Senior Danielle Schanbacher scored Methacton's sixth goal of the game off a Nearing assist to pull the Warriors within one again, but a foul on the defensive end gave the Ram's Maddie Ward a free position opportunity, which she cashed in on for a 6-8 game. Devlin and Nearing scored two quick goals to tie the game at 8, but Ward scored off the Spring-Ford stall attempt with 2:03 remaining in the game. Methacton won the ensueing draw and Schanbacher fired a shot past the Spring-Ford keeper for a 9-9 game. Methacton was able to win the draw again, Kellett took the ball down on the offensive end for the Warriors and set up a beautiful play for Devlin to drive, bouncing home the game winner. Warriors goalie Rikki Moore made 10 saves on the night. Kellett lead the team with 5 draw controls and 4 ground balls. 

Methacton upped their record to 11-2 overall, 9-1 in the PAC-10. The Warriors head to the Katie Samson Lacrosse Festival Saturday April 30th for a 2:15 match up with Merion Mercy on the library field at Radnor High School.
