Girls LAX Downs Upper Perk, secure PAC-10 playoff spot

 Playing in their fourth game in five days, Methacton was able to pull out a victory against Upper Perk, 13-10 Tuesday afternoon. Junior Anna Marie Warrington quickly gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead with two of her four goals on the day. Upper Perk got on the board on with a free position goal, but Senior Emily Kellett answered right back, giving Methacton a two goal lead. Upper Perk scored two goals to tie the game at 3. The Warriors were able to take control of the game with goals from Warrington, Senior Megan Nearing and Senior Abby Devlin, putting Methacton ahead 6-3. Upper Perk was able to get a score with just 6 seconds left in the first half, making the score 6-4 Warrior lead at half. 

After a turnover by Methacton, Upper Perk scored the first goal of the second half just 62 seconds in.  Devlin answered back two minutes later on a feed from Kellett for a 7-5 game. The Warriors were able to gain control over the game, with Nearing scoring Methacton's eighth goal of the game exactly two minutes after Devlin's goal. Junior Megan Earley gave the Warriors a 4 goal lead with 16:15 left in the second half. Upper Perk was able to get on the board again, but Warrington scored on a free position to regain the four goal lead. Nearing scored the eventual game winner on a feed from Kellett for an 11-6 game. The Tribe went on a two goal run but Devlin found the back of the net again at 5:51 left in the game. Upper Perk would score two more before Kellett scored off her own rebound to secure the win. 

With the win, Methacton secured their third consecutive trip to the PAC-10 playoffs, which begin Tuesday May 10th. The Warriors will be the number 2 seed from the Liberty Division. Methacton is 12-4 overall, 10-2 in the PAC-10. Methacton will honor their 10 Seniors Thursday against Perkiomen Valley. Game time is at 5pm.
