Girls Track and Field take home 14 medals in 1st Meet of the season

The Methacton Girls Spring Track and Field Team opened their season with a tremendous performance at the PTFCA Track Classic held at Great Valley High School on a cold and windy Saturday. The elements did not seem to effect the Lady Warriors as they took home 14 medals, 5 of them won their event, broke 3 School Records and also recorded 9 District qualifying marks.
The first event of the day, the Distance Medley Relay of Meredith Foulke, Hailey Sherman, Brianna Earnshaw and Kara Steinke, broke the School Record and finished 2nd with a time of 13:09.34. Kara Steinke also ran the 3200M, again breaking the school record and winning the event in 10:59.46. The other school record broken at the meet was Emma Sullivan, who placed 2nd in the Pole Vault with a clearance of 10' 6".
Gabby Becattini continued her outstanding performances in the jumping events, winning both the Long Jump (17' 3.5") and the Triple Jump (37' 9.5"). Mel Leszcynski also took home 2 medals with her winning javelin throw of 121' 1" and her 4th place finish in the discus at 99' 0". Seline Tan-Torres garnered a pair of medals, winning the 300M Hurdles with a time of 47.86 sec and as a part of the 4x800 relay with Elexa Sherman, Shannon Palmer and Nicole Karsch, which placed 2nd with a time of 9:55.05. Other medal winners included Lizzy Shadle (2nd in the 100M Hurdles at 17.17), Haley Kramer (3rd in the 100M Hurdles at 17.19), Kaitlyn Saal-Ridpath (4th in the 300M Hurdles at 49.66), Vicki Schaffer (4th in the High Jump at 4' 10") and Meredith Foulke (3rd in the 3200M run at 11:45.36).
The girls open up their PAC 10 schedule on Thursday when the compete against both Perkiomen Valley and Boyertown.
