Girls Varsity Track dominates the Colonial Relays

The Methacton Girls Track and Field Team had another record-breaking afternoon at the Colonial Relays on Saturday at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. The Lady Warriors set 2 School Records, won 6 events, placed 2nd in 3 others and also took home a bronze medal.
The Distance Medley Relay Team of Meredith Foulke, Hailey Sherman, Brianna Earnshaw and Kara Steinke, broke the school record for the 2nd week in a row, with a winning time of 12:55.56. Also setting a new school record and just missing the meet record by 1/4" was the triple jump relay of Gabby Becattini and Katie Catania, with a combined leap of 71' 1". The two also joined forces to place 3rd in the long jump relay with a mark of 32' 4.5".
Mel Leszcynski was a part of 2 medal winning performances, taking 1st in the javelin relay with Patience Ekuta with a combined throw of 197' 1" and 2nd in the Discus relay with Christine Jeffers for a combined throw of 181' 0". Also in the field, the pole vault relay of Emma Sullivan and Kristin Beatty placed 2nd clearing 18' 0".
On the track, the 4x200 Relay of Lizzy Shadle, Kelly Fields, Vicki Schaffer and Kaitlyn Saal-Ridpath were the first across the finish line, with a winning time of 1:48.56. The 4x800 Relay of Elexa Sherman, Nicole Karsch, Kara Steinke and Seline Tan-Torres also were victorious, winning in 9:37.98. Sherman, Tan-Torres and Saal-Ridpath were joined by Zoe Bongiovanni to place 2nd in the 4x400 Relay. Also winning their event in preparation for possible chance at running at the Penn Relays, was the freshman 4x100 Relay of Monica Sauer, Julie Vu, Dana Arcangelo, and Kelly Glatthorn in a time of 53.74 seconds.
The girls return to their PAC 10 schedule on Wednesday when they travel to Upper Perkiomen to face the Indians and Phoenixville in a 3-team showdown.
