Girls Track and Field excel at the Meet of Champions

The Girls Track and Field Team continued their amazing season with several outstanding performances at the Meet of Champions on Friday night at Lehigh University. The annual championship meet featured the best athletes from more than 90 schools throughout the Delaware Valley.

Highlighting the meet was senior Summer Mellow. Summer medaled in all 3 events, setting the school record in the 60m Dash. Her time of 7.76 seconds placed her 3rd in the meet and is the 9th fastest time in PA this season. Mellow then took to the Long Jump, where she placed second with a leap of 17' 9". In her 3rd event of the meet, she anchored the 4x200 relay to a 6th place finish. Nicole Walsh, Jillian McTamney and Kenslee O'Donnell handled the first three legs of the event. Kenslee O'Donnell took home her second medal of the night with a blistering time of 9.52 seconds in the 60m hurdles, placing 6th and qualifying her for the State Championship Meet.

The Distance Medley relay of Kate Thomas, Jillian McTamney, Marlie Klein and Molly Thomas also took home medals. Improving by more than 20 seconds from their best time of the season, the quartet finished 5th in the event with a time of 13:01.40. Two athletes that tied or set personal PR's on the evening were Soleil Bond-Johnson, with a long jump leap of 16' 8.25" to place her 8th in the event, and Sydney Young, with a Pole Vault of 9' 0", placing her 14th.

The Lady Warriors will be well represented at the PA State Championships held at Penn State University on Sunday. Widely regarded as one of the few "True" State Championships of any sport, this meet will feature athletes from both public and private schools from throughout the state, all competing in the same division. Only the top 20 athletes from each event qualify for the meet. This will mark the 23rd consecutive season (excluding 2021, when a meet was not held due to COVID) that Methacton has been represented in the State Championship Meet by members of the Girls Track and Field Team. Below are the athletes that have qualified for the meet:

Marlie Klein - 800M, 4x800 Relay
