Lady Warriors fall in Wildwood

The Lady Warriors traveled to Wildwood, NJ on Friday and Saturday to take part in the Wildwood Boardwalk Basketball Classic at the Wildwood Convention Center. This is the largest coed basketball tournament in the country featuring over 60 boys and girls teams from PA, NJ, DE and MD. The Lady Warriors played in the George Betz Memorial bracket with Red Bank Catholic (NJ), Prep Charter (PA) and Pennsbury (PA).
In the first game on Friday the Lady Warriors took on North New Jersey powerhouse Red Bank Catholic and suffered the opened round loss 57-52. The Lady Warriors battled back from an 8-0 hole at the start to take a 42-40 lead into the fourth quarter. A lay-up by Kara Steinke with 1:30 left in the game tied the score at 52-52, but the Lady Warriors could not find the basket the rest on the way and saw the record drop to 7-2 on the year.
Senior Kelsey Watson had a 23 point, 9 rebound performance. Also hitting double figures for the Lady Warriors, which faces Pennsbury Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in the consolation round, were Sarah Sherman (3 treys) and Jenna Carroll with 11 points apiece.
Red Bank (4-0) hit 6 of 7 shots from beyond the arc and used a 17-10 run in the fourth quarter to post the win.
