A month ago, the Methacton girls basketball team blew several leads on the way to a gut-wrenching, one-point, double-overtime loss to Boyertown.
When the Pioneer Athletic Conference playoff contenders renewed acquaintances Saturday night, Kelsey Watson, Jenna Carroll, Kelly Glatthorn and the rest of the Warriors ensured there would be no such drama.
With the trifecta of Watson, Carroll and Glatthorn leading the way, Methacton avenged that previous loss with a dominating 54-25 victory that kept the Warriors’ PAC-10 postseason hopes alive.
Senior forward Watson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, junior center Carroll scored a game-high 19 points and junior guard Glatthorn contributed nine points while sparking a second-quarter run that broke it wide open. The Warriors (9-3, 17-4) can force a second-place tie with the Bears (10-3, 16-6) in the Liberty Division by defeating Owen J. Roberts in Tuesday’s league finale. Should that happen, it would necessitate a one-game playoff — likely Thursday — for a PAC-10 Final Four berth.
