Game summary
The second season started off rather impressively for a young Methacton basketball team Friday night against visiting Ridley in the opening round of the District 1-AAAA girls playoffs.
Pioneer Athletic Conference runner-up Methacton, the district’s eighth seed, showed no ill-effects from its setback in the league championship contest against Spring-Ford two nights earlier, rolling up a 66-42 win over the Raiders.
Kelsey Watson did just about everything for the Warriors, scoring a game-high 18 points to go along with 13 rebounds. She also had three blocks, three assists, and a pair of steals. Sophomore Jenna Carroll recovered from early foul trouble to score 12 points to go with seven rebounds. Kelly Glatthorn also chipped in with a double-figure scoring effort with 11 points.
The Lady Warriors await the winner of #9 North Penn and #24 Council Rock North (Saturday 1:30PM at North Penn). The second round game will take place at Methacton on Wednesday night 2/22 at 7PM. A victory would put the Lady Warriors in the District quarterfinals and qualify them for the State playoffs which begin next month.
