The Lady Warriors Jenna Carroll posted a double-double with 19 points and 18 rebounds and rode a strong start to a 54-46 victory over Cheltenham in the opening round of the District 1-AAAA girls’ basketball playoffs Saturday afternoon.

The victory sends the No. 12 Lady Warriors (18-7) to a second-round matchup Wednesday night (7 p.m.) at No. 5 Central Bucks West, which advanced with a 76-48 triumph over No. 28 Norristown Saturday.

Kelly Glatthorn chipped in with 19 points and three triples for the Lady Warriors, which bolted out to a 14-2 lead by the end of the first period and expanded the advantage to 45-27 heading into the fourth quarter.

For the 21st-seeded Panthers, who had dropped a 52-50 nonleague decision to Methacton last Tuesday, freshman Ashley Jones collected 19 points. Cheltenham finishes its season at 15-8.
