The Lady Warriors (22-7) came up short in their bid to lock up a state playoff berth Wednesday night, doomed by a second-half collapse in District 1-6A, 9-11 playbacks.
Playing without starting forward Junior Sydney Hargrove, who was out with a neck injury sustained in Methacton’s 61-55 win over CB East Saturday, the PAC representatives bolted out to a 23-15 halftime lead.
But things came apart at the offensive end in the second half for the Warriors, who managed just 7 total second-half points and a mere one in the fourth quarter during a 20-7 Colonials’ run that locked up a state playoff bid for PW (21-5).
Junior Sydney Tornetta (10 points, 6 steals), Freshman Nicole Timko (8 points, 2 treys) and Senior Abby Penjuke (5 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists) topped the stat sheets for the Lady Warriors, which will need a win at home over (15) Pennsbury Saturday to secure the 11th and final state playoff spot from the district.
