The Lady Warriors posted a rare doubleheader sweep Saturday on their home floor, doubling their pleasure with a 74-25 PAC Liberty romp over Norristown and a 64-42 nonleague triumph over North Penn.
Baseball Hall of Famer and the late Mr. Cub, Ernie Banks, who always said "Let's Play 2," would have loved it.
The Lady Warriors, which were idle for nearly three weeks (Dec. 23 to Jan. 6) because of COVID restrictions including a holiday break without the usual trip to Wildwood (NJ) for the Boardwalk Classic, improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the PAC Liberty with the two wins.
In the days second game, Senior Nicole Timko dropped 22 points with 4 triples and added 6 steals to help the Lady Warriors complete the doubleheader sweep. Junior Mairi Smith recorded a double-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds and 5 blocks and Junior assidy Kropp added 10 points for the Lady Warriors, which pulled away from a narrow 17-15 lead by outscoring the Knights 23-10 in the second quarter to go up 39-25 at the break, including a 19-0 run to end the first half after trailing 25-20.
