Girls Track and Field Preseason Meeting - Thursday, Feb. 21 at 2:30 pm in the LGI

Any athlete planning to participate on the Girls Spring Track and Field Team is asked to attend the Preseason Meeting on Thursday, February 21 at 2:30 pm in the LGI. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please stop by the Athletic Office to sign up and pick up the necessary information. The first day of practice is Monday, March 4.

The entire coaching staff would like to thank the record number of athletes that tried out for this years Methacton Girls Track and Field team. Due to limitations in the number of athletes permitted to participate in PAC 10 Meets and Friday/Saturday Invitationals, we had to limit our team size to 65 athletes and 2 team managers. We were very impressed with the effort and dedication all of the athletes exhibited over the try-out period, which made the decision of which athletes to select extremely difficult. To the underclassman that did not make the squad, we hope that you continue to develop your skills and are eager to try out again next year. To the seniors, we thank you for all of your efforts and wish you the best in all of your future endeavors.

Girls Track and Field post 3 Relay victories and 2 District Qualifiers in the 1st Meet of the season

Despite the 30 degree wind chill and the 20 mph winds, the girls track and field team opened their season at the Oxenreider Relays on Saturday. Dana Arcangelo, Jenny Martin, Nikki Rimlinger and Nicolette Serratore opened up the meet by easily winning the shuttle hurdle relay. Caroline Duffy, Carly Foster, Jenny Martin and Aghina Marshall also brought home the gold, winning the 4x100 Relay. The Pole Vault tandem of Kristin Beatty and Lizzy Kapralick cruised to an easy victory as well. In the event, Kristin Beatty's vault of 10' 6" qualified her for the District 1 Championships. Also making a repeat trip to the District Championships is Nicolette Serratore with her 34' 10.75" leap in the triple jump.

The girls will host Pottsgrove on Wednesday as they open their PAC 10 schedule.

Girls Track and Field wins ALL 18 events in their 134-16 victory to open the 2013 PAC 10 season

The girls entered the PAC 10 season with a lot of new faces and several talented athletes unable to compete due to injuries, but their performance in the opening PAC 10 meet of 2013 showed that they are as deep as any team in the league. The Lady Warriors hosted Pottsgrove and posted wins in all 18 of the events! Even more impressive is the fact that 18 different athletes played a part in those wins, including 7 who are new to the team this season.

Jenny Martin opened the season is strong fashion, winning the Long Jump, 100M Hurdles, Javelin and as the leadoff leg in the 4x100 relay. Carly Foster also had a perfect day, winning the 100M, 200M, and as a member of the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Kara Steinke opened her season cruising to wins in both the 800M and the 1600M. Jess Holub bolted to a win in the 400M and as a member of the 4x400. Aghina Marshall was victorious in both the triple jump and as the anchor of the 4x100 relay. Other event winners included: Tejerra Ellis in the shot put, Nura Gouda in the discus, Heather Titanich in the High Jump, Nikki Rimlinger in the 300M Hurdles, Sarah Lebold in the 3200M, Kristin Beatty in Pole Vault, Nicolette Serratore in the 4x100 relay, Hailey Sherman and Zoe Bongiovanni as members of the 4x400 relay, and the 4x800 relay of Sarah Byrne, Lauren Engelman, Karen Konkoly and Elexa Sherman.

While some athletes will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh on Saturday to compete in the PTFCA Classic, the team will resume their PAC 10 schedule next Wednesday at Phoenixville.

Girls Track and Field attain 7 District Qualifiers at PTFCA Classic

The Methacton Girls Track and Field team came away with 2 event victories and 5 additional top five performances at the PTFCA Classic, featuring some of the top talent in PA. Nicolette Serratore won the triple jump with a leap of 36' .5", as well as placing 6th in the 100M Hurdles at 15.66 seconds and 8th in the Javelin at 96' 2". Her hurdle and triple jump performances were District Qualifying.  Kristin Beatty continued to perform well in the Pole Vault, winning the event with a vault of 10' 0". Jenny Martin had another strong day, placing 3rd in the long jump with a leap of 16' 8.5", 6th in the 100M Hurdles at 15.37 seconds and 6th in the javelin at 107' 7". Both her javelin and hurdle performance were District Qualifying. Freshman Carolyn Duffy burst onto the Spring Track scene with a 7th place finish in the 100M dash (13.10 sec), a 7th place District Qualifying finish in the 200M dash (26.29 sec) and as a leg on the 5th place 4x400 relay with Zoe Bongiovanni, Jess Holub and Nikki Rimlinger. Kara Steinke easily qualified for the District Championships with her 2nd place finish in the 3200M run at 10:57.96.  Tejerra Ellis had a very strong performance in the Shot Put with a 4th place throw of 32' 11.5" and Lizzy Kapralick placed 5th in the pole vault at 8' 0". The girls will travel to Phoenixville on Wednesday to continue their PAC 10 schedule as well as visiting Downingtown West on Friday for their Spring Invitational.

Girls Track and Field rolls to a 137-13 win over Phoenixville to stay perfect on the season

The Lady Warriors have opened up their PAC 10 season with 2 convincing wins, this time a 137-13 victory of Phoenixville High School. Taking the top 3 places in 15 of the 18 events, the girls have shown depth in every facet of the sport.

Freshman Caroline Duffy had an outstanding meet, winning the 100M, 200M, 400M and as a member of the 4x400 relay with Carly Foster, Tyra Robinson and Hailey Sherman. Jenny Martin notched victories in the 100M Hurdles and the Long Jump. Kara Steinke was also a double winner, cruising to a victory in the 800M and also coming from behind to anchor the 4x800 to a win. Freshman Nikki Rimlinger won the 300M Hurdles, while senior Kristin Beatty continued her undefeated season with a win in the pole vault. Tejerra Ellis continued to shine in the shot put, winning the event for the second straight meet, while Nicolette Serratore in the triple jump, Maddie Misus in the Discus, Brianna Earnshaw in the 1600M and Aghina Marshall in the High Jump also posted wins. The 4x100 relay of Irina Purcell, Julie Vu, Tianna Crippen and Kelly Groth sprinted their way to a victory as well.

The girls face what could be their most difficult test of the season next Wednesday when they host Owen J Roberts and Boyertown.

Girls Track and Field adds 2 more District Qualifiers

Tejerra Ellis in the shot put and Jenny Martin in the long jump added their names to the growing list of qualifiers for the District 1 Track and Field Championships with their performance on Friday night at the Downingtown West Invitational. Kara Steinke won the 3200M run, Martin won the 100M Hurdles and Nicolette Serratore won the triple jump in the meet as well as placing 2nd in the 100M Hurdles Zoe Bongiovanni (300M Hurdles), Caroline Duffy (100M) and Heather Titanich (High Jump) also had 2nd place finishes. The girls host Boyertown and Owen J Roberts on Wednesday.

Girls Track and Field moves to 4-0 with big wins over Boyertown and Owen J Roberts

The Methacton Girls Track and Field Team improved their season record to 4-0 with wins over Boyertown and previously unbeaten Owen J Roberts.
 
In the meet, sophomore TeJerra Ellis broke the school record with her 36' 7" shot put to win the event. Kara Steinke pulled out wins in the 1600 and 3200, as well a a 2nd place finish in the 800M. Jenny Martin won the 100M Hurdles was the leadoff leg on the winning 4x100 relay with Caroline Duffy, Carly Foster and Kelly Groff. Nicolette Serratore won the Javelin and finished 2nd in the triple jump and the 100M Hurdles. Aghina Marshall had an outstanding meet, winning the high jump and placing 2nd in the long jump with an 18' 2" jump. Kristin Beatty was again victorious in the Pole Vault with a vault of 10' 6". The 4x800 relay of Elexa Sherman, Brianna Earnshaw, Lauren Engleman and Jess Holub easily won the event, while the 4x400 relay of Holub, Foster, Zoe Bongiovanni and Tyra Robinson squeeked by with a win.
 

Girls Freshman 4x100 Relay qualifies for the Penn Relays Championship Finals

Congratulations goes out to Irina Purcell, Kelly Groth, Tianna Crippen, Nikki Rimlinger and Emily Sayre, as they finished 2nd at the Penn Relays trials in the freshman 4x100 relay yesterday to qualify for the Championship Race to be held at Franklin Field on Friday, April 26.

4x200 and Beatty set Meet Records, as Girls Track and Field earn 16 medals at Perk Valley Invitational

Kristin Beatty cleared 10' 9" and the 4x200 relay team of Jenny Martin, Caroline Duffy, Carly Foster and Tianna Crippen ran a 1:49.28 to set meet records in their event wins at the Perkiomen Valley Invitational on Saturday. Nura Gouda's discus throw of 102' 1" and Kara Steinke's 1600M time of 5:05.02 each earned them a trip to the District 1 Championships in May.  The girls earned a total of 16 medals throughout the meet.

Jenny Martin, Carly Foster and Caroline Duffy added 2 additional medals each. The three joined Aghina Marshall (who also placed 4th in the long jump) and placed 4th in the 4x100 relay. Duffy and Foster joined Zoe Bongiovanni and Jess Holub (who also earned a 2nd place finish in the open 400M) to place 3rd in the 4x400 relay. Martin also placed 2nd in the 100M Hurdles. Nikki Serratore earned 2 medals, placing 3rd in the javelin and 4th in the 100M Hurdles. Brianna Earnshaw earned 2 medals, the first was a 4th in the open 800M run and the second was a 2nd place as a member of the 4x800 relay with Elexa Sherman, Roseann Harmon and Lauren Engleman. Tejerra Ellis continued to be strong in the shot put, placing 2nd with a throw of 34- 0. Monica Sauer placed 4th in the pole vault. Freshman Nikki Rimlinger missed qualifying for Districts by .01 seconds, but still earned a 5th place finish in the 300M Hurdles at 47.75 seconds.

The girls travel to Pottstown on Wednesday and then will compete in the Great Valley Relays on Wednesday.

Girls Track moves to 6 - 0 with convincing wins vs. Pope John Paul and Pottstown

The Girls Track and Field Team moved to 6 - 0 in the PAC 10 this season by beating Pottstown 127 - 23 and Pope John Paul II 124 - 26. Freshman Nikki Rimlinger started the scoring with a district qualifying win in the 300M Hurdles. Sophomores Aghina Marshall and Heather Titanich each had outstanding days, both clearing 5' 3" in the High Jump. The girls dominated in all facets of the meet, winning 16 of the 18 events against both teams. They travel to the Great Valley relays on Saturday and return to their PAC 10 schedule on Tuesday as they host Senior Day vs. Perkiomen Valley and Upper Perkiomen.

3 first place medals, a school record and another district qualifier highlight Girls Track at Great Valley

The Methacton Girls Track and Field Team competed at the annual Great Valley Relays on Saturday and returned home with 3 first place finishes and 8 relay medals in all. Jenny Martin (16' 4.25") and Aghina Marshall (16' 9.25") teamed up to win the Long Jump Relay. Martin joined Nicolette Serratore, Nikki Rimlinger and Emily Sayre to win the shuttle hurdle relay in a new PA #1 time of 1:05.45. The Lady Warriors earned another gold in the Pole Vault Relay with Kristin Beatty (10' 9") and Monica Sauer (8' 6").

 

Martin and Marshall teamed up with Caroline Duffy and Carly Foster to run a District Qualifying time of 51.04 seconds and placed 5th in the 4x100 relay. Marshall (33' 1") and Serratore (34' 11") also paired up in the Triple Jump Relay to take second place. Serratore (102' 5") and Martin (102' 3") took 3rd in the Javelin Relay. Tejerra Ellis (36' 8.25") and Jess Pennypacker (24' 7") earned a 5th place medal in the shot put. Ellis broke her own School Record in the event.  The 4x800 Relay team of Elexa Sherman, Jess Holub, Brianna Earnshaw and Kara Steinke also earned a 5th place finish with a time of 10:13.11.

The Lady Warriors host Upper Perkiomen and Perkiomen Valley on Tuesday before traveling to Franklin Field and the Penn Relays later this week.

Lady Warriors move to 8-0 with 2 wins on Senior Day

On a day when the weather was far from perfect, the girls track and field team managed to stay perfect on the season with a 140.5 - 8.5 win over Upper Perk and a 103.5 - 46.5 win over Perk Valley. Entering the final regular season meet next week, their record now stands at 8-0.  Caroline Duffy won the 100M and 200M and later ran a strong leg on the winning 4x400 relay. Kara Steinke continued to dominate the distance events, winning both the 1600M and the 3200M. Jess Holub (400M), Tejerra Ellis (Shot Put), Heather Titanich (High Jump), Kristin Beatty(Pole Vault), Brianna Earnshaw (800M) and Jenny Martin (100M Hurdles) all contributed to individual event wins. In the victory over Upper Perk, the Lady Warriors won all 18 events, marking the 2nd time this season they have been able to accomplish this rare task.

School Records, Meet Records and Penn Relays Medals headline Girls Track amazing weekend

With the help of Mother Nature, the Girls Track and Field Team shined with 3 consecutive days of outstanding performances. Starting out Thursday's performance at the Penn Relays was the 4x100 Relay of Jenny Martin, Caroline Duffy, Carly Foster and Aghina Marshall. The foursome raced home by winning their heat with their best time of the season, a District 1 qualifying 50.09 seconds. Not to be outdone later that day was the 4x400 Relay of Jessica Holub, Duffy, Zoe Bongiovanni and Foster. They ran their fastest time of the season by over 6 seconds, qualifying for the District 1 Championships and earning a coveted Penn Relays medal with a 3rd place finish of 4:02.97.

 

On Friday, the freshman 4x100 took center stage at the Penn Relays in the 9th Grade Championship race. Irina Purcell, Kelly Groth, Tianna Crippen and Nikki Rimlinger (pictured) improved their seed time by nearly 2 seconds and earned a silver medal with a time of 51.07 seconds.

 

The Lady Warriors wrapped up the weekend by attending the Falcon Invitational at Pottsgrove High School and put on a show. The girls won 9 of the 13 events they entered and came away with 7 Meet Records! Nicolette Serratore showed her multi-event talents by winning the Long Jump, Javelin, 100M Hurdles (Meet Record) and Triple Jump (Meet Record). On the track, Jess Holub set a record in the 400M Run (1:00.2) and Lauren Engleman (2:23.6) improved her time by 5 seconds by setting a record in her 800M Run win. In the field, three additional meet records were set: Tejerra Ellis in the Shot Put (35' 5"), Heather Titanich in the High Jump (5' 0") and Lizzy Kapralick in the Pole Vault (8' 6").

 

The Lady Warriors will wrap up their regular season this week with a meet at Spring-Ford on Wednesday and then travel to West Chester Henderson for an Invitational on Friday. The girls will also be hosting a car wash on Sunday.

Lady Warriors finish regular season at 9-0 for 8th straight undefeated regular season!

The Girls Track and Field Team completed their 8th straight undefeated regular season with a 102 - 48 win over Spring-Ford on Wednesday. Leading the way was Caroline Duffy, winner of the 100M, 200M, 400M and on the winning 4x400 relay. Jenny Martin won the Long Jump, 100M Hurdles and on the winning 4x100 relay. Seniors Brianna Earnshaw (800M, 4x800) and Zoe Bongiovanni (300 Hurdles and 4x400) had very strong meets, each winning an individual event and playing a large part in a relay win. Abby Konkoly (1600M), Nicolette Serratore (Triple Jump), Kristin Beatty (pole Vault) and Tejerra Ellis (Shot Put) also picked up event wins.

Next up for the Lady Warriors is the West Chester Henderson Invitational on Friday as they gear up for the PAC 10 Championships next weekend. If you wish to meet the members of the team, they will be holding a car wash on Sunday from 9 am - 1 pm at the Shell Gas Station (corner of Park Avenue and Ridge Pike).

4x800, Beatty, Duffy, Bongiovanni and Ellis headline Girls Track at Henderson Invitational

The Girls Track and Field team wrapped up their Invitational schedule for the 2013 season with 4 additional District Qualifying performances and 2 event wins at the West Chester Henderson Invitational on Friday night. The 4x800 relay of Elexa Sherman, Lauren Engleman, Brianna Earnshaw and Kara Steinke ran not only their best time of the season by more than 25 seconds, but they also qualified for the District 1 Championships in their event win with a time of 9:32.68. Kristin Beatty also had her best performance of the season, winning the Pole Vault with a clearance of 11' 0".

Zoe Bongiovanni added her name to the list of District Qualifiers with her performance in the 300M Hurdles in a time of 47.43 seconds. Tejerra Ellis, who had previously qualified in the shot put, added the discus to her resume with a throw of 105' 8".  Freshman Caroline Duffy, who has already qualified for Districts in the 100M, 200M, 4x100 and 4x400 relay, added the 400M to her list with a 59.10 second performance.

Jenny Martin continued her strong season with a 17' 7.5" performance in the long jump for 4th place and a 3rd place finish in the 100M Hurdles. Aghina Marshall added a 17' 6" 6th place finish in the long jump. Nicolette Serratore earned 3 medals, going 36' 6" in the triple jump for 3rd place and finishing 8th in the 100M Hurdles. In total, the girls earned 13 medals at the meet featuring over 80 schools from 4 states.

The Lady Warriors will try to defend their PAC 10 Championship on Friday and Saturday at Boyertown High School.

Girls Track wins 5th straight PAC 10 Title, 8th straight league championship overall

The Girls Track and Field team proved once again to the rest of the PAC 10 how deep their team can be when it matters the most. The Lady Warriors dominated the PAC 10 Track and Field Championships, beating 2nd place Owen J Roberts 202 - 134 to win their 5th consecutive PAC 10 title. No other PAC 10 team could crack the 100 pt barrier. Methacton was the only team to place athletes in all 18 events and had 27 different athletes contribute in their 38 medal performances.

The meet started off with a new PAC 10 record by Nicolette Serratore in the triple jump. Her leap of 37' 11.75" to win the event now stands as the #5 performance in PA this season. Event wins continued with Kara Steinke defending her title in the 3200M (she would later do so in the 1600M as well) and Kristin Beatty winning the Pole Vault. On the 2nd day, The 4x800 relay of Elexa Sherman, Lauren Engleman, Brianna Earnshaw and Steinke easily took home the gold. Jenny Martin cruised by the rest of the field, winning the 100M Hurdles. The 4x400 relay of Jess Holub, Carly Foster, Zoe Bongiovanni and Tyra Robinson ended the meet with a resounding victory. Tejerra Ellis added a 2nd place finish in the shot put, which included breaking her own school record with a throw of 37' 7".

The Lady Warriors will send 20 athletes to the District 1 Championships this weekend in hopes to qualify for the PIAA State Championships the following weekend.

Girls Track and Field earns 6 medals at the District Championshipships. Martin, Marshall, Beatty and Steinke to States!!

The Girls Track and Field team competed against not only the best athletes in District One, but many of the best athletes in the State. All 69 teams teams in District One arrived at Coatesville High School on Friday and Saturday, with only the best of the best advancing to the PIAA State Championship Meet next weekend. Jenny Martin proved to be one of the best, not only earning a spot in the meet in her signature event, the 100M Hurdles, but also in the javelin. Martin took the bronze medal in each event, placing 3rd in the hurdles with a personal best time of 14.86 seconds and also setting a personal best by 8 ft, placing 3rd in the javelin with a throw of 125' 1".  Aghina Marshall will be making her first trip to the State Meet, also earning a bronze medal, finishing 3rd in the Long Jump with a leap of 18' 1.25". Kristin Beatty tied for 4th in the Pole Vault, matching her best effort with a mark of 11' 0". Rounding out the athletes that have qualified for next week was Kara Steinke, who finished 6th in the 3200M with a time of 10:57.40. Tejerra Ellis narrowly missed out on a trip to Shippensburg, finishing 8th in the Shot Put with a throw of 37' 2".

Girls Track and Field dominates Oxenreider Relays, setting 2 Meet Records and 3 School Records

The weather cooperated long enough for the Girls Track and Field team to put on a show in front of several of the powerhouse schools in both the PAC 10 and District 1.  Competing against North Penn, Spring-Ford, Norristown, Owen J Roberts and other well-run programs, the Lady Warriors came away from the Oxenreider Relays as the Overall Team Champion, earning medals in 13 of the 15 events, including setting 2 Meet Records and 3 School Records.

 

Leading the way was a trio of juniors, Jenny Martin, Nicolette Serratore and Aghina Marshall.  Serratore (116' 0") and Martin (118' 11") paired up to set the Meet and School record in javelin relay, each easily eclipsing the District 1 qualifying mark of 102' 0".  The two would also join to set a new school record in the shot put relay, with martin throwing 30' 9" and Serratore launching a throw of 31- 5". Aghina Marshall joined both athletes in different events, culminating in two Gold Medals. Marshall (34' 9") teamed up with Serratore (35' 3.5") to easily distance the field in the triple jump relay.  Both athlete's achieved district qualifying marks.  Martin (17' 8.5") and Marshall (17' 10") also teamed up to better the competition by more than 3 feet to win the Long Jump relay.  Both marks were again District qualifying standards. Martin and Serratore also joined Dana Arcangelo and Nikki Rimlinger to easily distance the field in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay, which missed setting the meet record by less than 1 second.

 

Other outstanding performances included the 4x100 Relay and 4x200 relays of Carly Foster, Angela Ramsden, Rainah Dunham and Caroline Duffy. Both relays finished 2nd to North Penn.  The 4x100 also ran a qualifying time for the District 1 Championships. The Pole Vault Relay of Monica Sauer (9' 0") and Sarah Burry (8' 6") tied for the win. The Sprint Medley Relay of Kelly Groth, Nikki Rimlinger, Caroline Duffy and Jess Holub placed 2nd and set a new school record of 2:26.54. The 4x1600 relay of Kara Steinke, Ryan DeOrio, Abby Konkoly and Brianna Landis placed 3rd, as did the High Jump relay of Heather Titanich and Aghina Marshall.

A REMINDER - You can help support Academics, Athletics and the Arts at Methacton and have some fun by participating in the 2nd Annual Warrior Run 5K & Fun Run/Walk event on Sunday, November 3rd @ Methacton High school - Race starts at 9 am -  Last minute registration desk opens at 8 am in the HS cafeteria  - PLEASE HELP TO SPREAD THE WORD -  THANK YOU!
