Te'Jarra Ellis headlines 7 District Qualifying performances by Girls T&F at Cheltenham Invitational

Updated on 06/10/2022

Coming off their dual meet sweep of PV and Phoenixville on Wednesday, the Girls Track and Field team turned their focus on individual performances on Friday night at the 2nd annual Cheltenham Invitational. As all have been dealing with the brutal weather throughout the early spring, Mother Nature gave the Lady Warriors a nice night to exhibit their talents.

Junior Te'jarra Ellis didn't disappoint, as she broke her own school record in the shot put with the first district qualifying performance of the afternoon of 37' 8".  Te' followed up that performance with another district qualifier in the discus at 102' 9".  Next up was a trio of 100M Hurdlers, Jenny Martin, Nikki Rimlinger and Nicolette Serratore.  All 3 came out of the blocks to qualify for the District 1 championships in 15.3 sec, 15.9 sec and 16.1 sec, respectively. Monica Sauer, who has been flirting with the district mark all season, cleared 9' 6" in the Pole Vault to punch her ticket into the meet. Last up was Kara Steinke, who will end this season as the most successful female distance runner in school history, in the 3200M.  For the 4th consecutive season, Kara qualified for the Districts Championships, blowing by the rest of the field by more than 20 seconds.

The long jump trio of Aghina Marshall, Jenny Martin and Rainah Dunham had a very strong meet.  Jumping into a very strong wind, Aghina (16' 9"), Jenny (16' 2.5) and Rainah (16' 2.5) placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the event.  Aghina also took 3rd in the High Jump (5' 0").  Along with her performance in the 100 Hurdles, Nicolette Serratore also won the triple jump (34' 3.75"). Ending the meet was a gutsy performance by the 4x400 relay of Jess Holub, Angela Ramsden, Kelly Groth and Rainah Dunham. The quartet finished 2nd overall in a gutsy wind with a time of 4:10.8.

Girls Track and Field moves to 6-0 with rout over Pottstown

Updated on 06/10/2022

For many at Methacton, Spring Break is only a day away. For members of the Girls Track and Field team, their opponents are looking for a way to escape.  The Lady Warriors improved their record to 6 - 0 with a 131 - 15 victory over Pottstown on a windy, chilly afternoon at Methacton.

As they have done so often over the years, event wins came from every facet of the sport, but this time it was in every event!  Nicolette Serratore launched her best javelin throw of her career (124' 5"), added her fastest time in the 300M Hurdles (48.6 sec) and hopped past the competition in her mainstay, the triple jump, to lead the way with 3 event wins. Kelly Groth added two wins, sprinting to victories in both the 100M and 200M dash. Jess Holub was the queen of the 400m on the afternoon. Kara Steinke, Ryan DeOrio and Abby Konkoly led the distance crew with wins in the 800, 1600 and 3200, respectively. Jenny Martin coasted to another 100M Hurdle win.  All 3 relay teams had decisive victories. In the field, Hannah Moran was the surprise winner of the shot put and to no one's surprise, Te'jarra Ellis outclassed the field in the discus. Rainah Dunham won the long jump and Heather Titanich the high jump. Winning the Pole Vault for the first time this year was Lizzy Kapralick.

The girls travel to the Great Valley Relays on Saturday before returning to PAC 10 action on Tuesday at Upper Perk.

Serratore/Martin break Meet Record to headline Girls Track and Field at Great Valley Relays

Updated on 06/10/2022

Some schools use the shortened version of Spring Break as a time for rest and relaxation, but many of Methacton's finest used Saturday as a time to prepare for the post-season. Competing against more than 30 of the strongest schools throughout District 1 in the Great Valley Relays, the Lady Warriors Track and Field team earned 7 relay medals in 11 events, including 3 event wins, a school record and a meet record.

The junior duo of Nicolette Serratore and Jenny Martin have been one of the strengths of the program since their first meet as freshman. Although both excel in the hurdles and jumps, the two combined in the javelin relay to break the school and meet record by more than 20'. Serratore's throw of 125' 1" and Martin's mark of 121' 3" are currently both top 5 performances in District 1 and put them in a position to potentially qualify for the State Championships in a little more than a month. Martin (17' .25") also teamed up with Aghina Marshall (16' 8.75") in the Long Jump to outdistance the field.  This marks the 2nd straight year the two have paired up to win the event and 3rd straight year that Martin has been a part of the winning Long Jump Relay. Another relay that has dominated at Great Valley has been in the Pole Vault.  Meagan Rinella and Monica Sauer each cleared 9' 0" to win the event. This also marks the 3rd straight year that Methacton has won that event.

Other medalist included the combination of Serratore and Marshall in the triple jump.  Serratore's leap of 35' 6.5" and Marshall's mark of 33' 9" placed them 2nd overall. The freshman 4x100 relay of Ashley Newman, Rainah Dunham, Gianna Fazio and Angela Ramsden, preparing for the 9th grade 4x100 at Penn Relays on Friday, placed 6th in the event where they ran against the Varsity athletes of the opposing schools. The 4x400 Relay of Jess Holub, Kelly Groth, Angela Ramsden and Carly Foster also placed 6th. The 4x800 Relay of Lauren Engelman, Brianna Landis, Jess Holub and Kara Steinke also garnered a 6th place medal.

The Lady Warriors continue their PAC 10 schedule on Tuesday as they try to stay perfect on the season with a meet at Upper Perk. They will also be competing at the Penn Relays on Thursday and Friday, while wrapping up their busy week at the Pottsgrove Invitational.

Girls Track and Field caps off their 9th straight "Perfect Season" with a PAC 10 Championship dominating performance

Updated on 06/10/2022

Earlier in the week, the Girls Track and Field team posted wins against Pope John Paul II and Pottsgrove for their 77th and 78th consecutive dual meet victories, but that was only the tip of the iceberg for the Lady Warriors. On Friday and Saturday, the girls traveled to Perkiomen Valley High School in hopes of defending another PAC 10 title against the 9 neighboring schools at the Championship Meet..  Not only did they defend their title, but the outscored every other team by more than 100 points, posting 228 total team points, followed by 2nd place Boyertown's 126 points.

The weekend showed the depth of the team and the vast talent in nearly every event. Caroline Duffy led the star-studded meet with an electrifying performance.  Although a condensed schedule due to impending storms could have caused fatigue to others, it seemed to propel Duffy. She started the afternoon with a huge PR in the 300M Hurdles, finishing 2nd with the 10th fastest time in PA this season. She then blew away the field in the 100M, setting a new meet record of 12.42 seconds. Next up was her anchor on the 4x100, another gold medal.  Last up was the finals of the 200M, where she set another meet record, cruising to her 3rd gold of the afternoon at 25.14 seconds. But Duffy was far from the only athlete to have an incredible Championship Meet. Kara Steinke has been the dominant force in distance since her freshman year.  Running in her final PAC meet, she ran two extremely intelligent races, winning both the 1600m and the 3200m for the 4th year in a row.  Kara added a bronze medal as well, anchoring the 4x800 relay. Another athlete that posted 2 event wins was Aghina Marshall, who also added a silver medal with more than a foot PR in the Triple Jump. Aghina soared above the field with a win in the High Jump and lept passed the field in the Long Jump.

The most lopsided event of the competition was the pole vault.  Monica Sauer led the quartet of vaulters, which also included Meagan Rinella, Lizzy Kapralick and Sarah Burry,  to taking 4 of the top 5 places. The foursome took 26 out of the possible 39 points that could have been scored in the event. The 4x100 of Kelly Groth, Gianna Fazio, Carly Foster and Caroline Duffy not only coasted to a victory, but it featured 4 athletes that each took home medals in other events. Groth placed 2nd in the 100m and 7th in the 200m.  Fazio was 5th in the 200m and 7th in the 100m. Foster was also a part of the 4x400 Relay that took home the silver. Rainah Dunham was a very busy athlete during the weekend as well, placing 4th in the 100m, 6th in the 200m and anchored the 4x400 relay. Other athletes that took home multiple medals included Jenny Martin, who placed 2nd in the 100m Hurdles, 3rd in the Javelin, 3rd in the Long Jump and 7th in the Shot Put. Also Nicolette Serratore, who placed 2nd in the javelin, 4th in the 100m Hurdles, 5th in the triple jump and 6th in the long jump. Jess Holub also took home some hardware, placing 8th in the open 400m, as well as a 2nd place medal in the 4x400 relay and a 3rd place medal in the 4x800 relay. Te' Ellis earned 2 silver medals, placing 2nd in both the shot put and the discus. Nikki Rimlinger doubled as well with 2 district qualifying performances, placing 5th in the 100m Hurdles and 6th in the 300m Hurdles. Nura Gouda placed 3rd in the discus, Heather Titanich tied for 4th in the High Jump, Emily Nice had a 10 foot PR to take 8th in the discus, Angela Ramsden was a member of the silver medal winning 4x400, and Brianna Landis and Ryan DeOrio added to the bronze medal winning 4x800 relay..

The performance by the Lady Warriors was one of the most dominant victories in PAC 10 history. Many athletes will be competing next weekend at Coatesville in the District 1 Championships with hopes of several qualifying for the State Championships at Shippensburg the following weekend.
