Warriors Win: 53 - 18
Methacton Wrestlers Defeat Norristown, 53-18 The Warrior wrestlers defeated next door neighbor Norristown 53-18 in their Pioneer Athletic Conference opener. The Warriors were powered by the strength of five pins recorded by Brayden Giovinco, Ryan Hayes, Joey Simko, Gavin Rose and Dylan Pachik.   Jack Hayes gutted out a 2-0 victory while Bobby Goliash and Collin O’Neill won by major decision. Sahash Suresh and Matty Shumaker picked up forfeits. The Warriors’ record now stands at 4-1 overall and 1-0 within their league. In junior varsity action Maksym Kozak, Auggie Reith, Alidel Vidal, Joe Civitello, Liam Goldich and Anthony Cancro won their matches. The Warriors’ next competition is the Valley Forge Duals at Upper Merion High School this coming Saturday.  Matches get underway at 9:00 am. Methacton Wrestlers Defeat Wissahickon - Place 2nd at West Chester Tournament

On Wednesday the Warriors hosted the Wissahickon Trojans.  The Warriors overcame a 24 -0 deficit by winning nine straight bouts en route to a 51-24 victory.  The highlight of the night came compliments of Warrior 215 pounder Dylan Pachik, who pulled out a 2-1 overtime victory over Wissahickon standout Tyler Prince. On Saturday the Warrior matmen competed in the eight-team field at Colley Classic Duals at West Chester East High School.   In the quarterfinal round the Warriors defeated host West Chester East by a score of   58-18 victory. Registering falls for the Warriors were Brayden Giovinco, Ryan Hayes, Jack Hayes, Joey Simko, Joe Civitello, Matty Shumaker, Collin O'Neill and George Dyer. In the semi-final round the Warriors pulled out an exciting win over Ridley. Trailing 30-8  after the first seven bouts were contested, the Warriors reeled off six straight wins to prevail by a score of 38-30. Gavin Rose and Collin O'Neill both mounted come from behind last second wins to spark the Warriors comeback. In the championship match the Warriors fell 45-21 to Perkiomen Valley.   Ryan Hayes, Matty Shumaker, Gavin Rose and Dylan Pachik all went a perfect 3-0 on the day. The Warrior grapplers are off until December 29-30, when they will compete in 32 team Neil Turner Invitational at Conestoga Valley High School. Reply Reply all Forward
Wrestling Team Places Third at Pottstown Tournament

The past Friday and Saturday the Warrior wrestling team competed in the grueling two-day, 24-team Pottstown Invitational. When the dust settled late Saturday evening the Warriors ended up with an impressive third place finish.  Leading the way was Matty Shumaker who dominated the 160 pound weight class.  Shumaker recorded three falls and a 15-0 tech fall en route to his championship.  Joining Shumaker on the victory stand was teammate Ryan Hayes who won the 133 pound title with a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory. Sophomore Gabe Franks placed second at 285 pounds.  Franks pulled off the upset of the tournament when he used arm spin throw to pin top seeded and state ranked Andrew Brennan of LaSalle College in the quarterfinal round. Dylan Pachik had a good showing finishing fifth at 215 pounds.  In the semifinals Pachik dropped a tough, hard fought match to state ranked Bandon Stiehler of Pocono Mountain West in overtime. Freshman Brayden Giovinco had a strong debut in a Methacton singlet going 4-2 on the way to a fifth place finish. Gavin Rose reached the semifinals of the 172 pound weight class before finishing in sixth place. Freshman Jack Hayes went 5-2 over two days on his way to a seventh-place finish at 145 pounds, while teammate Shane McQuaid rounded the Methacton place winners by garnering an eighth place finish at 139 pounds.  Other Methacton wrestlers who registered wins but did not place were Anthony Cancro (2-2) Chase Kerwood (1-2) and Bobby Goliash (1-2). The tournament also had a junior varsity event which saw Warrior wrestlers Augie Reith, Jackson Power, Joe Civitello, Srikar Kodiganti, George Dyer and Kevin Krupeiski take first place in their respective brackets The Warrior matmen are off until Wednesday, December 13th when they host rival Wissahickon.  The junior varsity starts at 6:30 pm with the varsity to follow at approximately 7:30 pm.
