Methacton Golf Team Wins First Ever PAC 10 Championship

Updated on 06/10/2022

The Methacton Varsity Golf Team Competed in the PAC 10 Finals on Thursday October 7th and defeated 2 -time defending champion Boyertown in thrilling fashion.  After suffering their only defeat of the season at the hands of Boyertown, Methacton arrived at Gilbertsville determined to bring home the first PAC 10 title in the school's history.

As the scores started to arrive at the clubhouse, Methacton trailed Boyertown by 2 strokes after group 1 then 6 strokes after group 2.  At this point the match was almost assured to be over as Boyertown's final four golfers have been strong all year.  Methacton's group 3 of Brandon Vance and Alex Green came in to wipe out Boyertown's six stroke lead.  At this point the scores stood as follows:

Methacton:                                                     Boyertown:

Matt Gehret 55                                               Ryan Wolbach 52

Ryan Vance 53                                              Carlo Barrasse 54

Corey Melnick 57                                          Jedd Laskosie 56

Brandon Vance 54                                        Ethan Emel 55

Alex Green 55

Methacton at this point had their top five scores at 274, if one of Boyertown's last two golfers came in with a 56 they would win by a stroke at 273.  Brett Groody playing in the final spot for Methacton and playing in only his 4th match of the season took par on the last two holes to card a 57.  Boyertown's Travis Poley bogeyed the last hole to card a 57 and tie Methacton's top 5.  The sixth score from each team was then tallied and Methacton's Brett Groody's 57 beat Boyertown's Alex Kershetsky's 61 to vault Methacton to the win.
