Girls Winter Track opens the season with 5 Meet of Champs Performances

Competing for the first time at an Indoor Track Meet in nearly 2 years, the Lady Warriors showed they could be a force throughout both the winter and spring seasons. With more than 60 schools in attendance from throughout the Delaware Valley, Methacton finished in the top 10 in an event 7 times. Five of those performances qualified athletes for the post-season Meet of Champions. Leading the way was senior Addi Gormley. She not only won the high jump with a leap of 5' 3", but she currently has the top clearance in the PA in the event. Kaitlin Richards had an equally impresive night, finishing 2nd in the Pole Vault with a clearance of 10' 6". Fellow senior Coco Dunham qualified for the MOC in 2 events. With a 35' 0" triple jump, she easily reached the standard, but she also anchored the 4x200 relay to a 2nd place finish and a qualifying time. Sophomore Kenslee O'Donnell had a spectacular night. Placing 4th in the open 400m and was also a member of the 4x200 relay. Summer Mellow, the leadoff leg of the relay, earned 2 medals on the night as well, finishing 6th in the long jump. Freshman Soleil Bond-Johnson ran the 3rd leg of the 4x200 relay, earning her first trip to the post season.
The girls will return to Alvernia for their second competition of the season next Friday.
