Making the Boy's Track TeamUpdated on 06/10/2022 Making the Boy’s Track and Field Team: Signing-up for Boy’s Track and Field does not guarantee candidates a spot on the team. We will be able to support a boy’s team of approximately 65 athletes. Coaches will consider multiple factors including: ability, effort, performance, conditioning, and attitude in relation to team needs in order to develop our roster. Conditions permitting, coaches will make roster cuts by Friday, March 20th. Candidates are encouraged to try their best at all times in order to increase their chances of making the team. Indoor Track State Championship ResultsUpdated on 06/10/2022 Methacton's Boys Winter Track Team traveled to Penn State University this weekend to compete at the Indoor State Championship Meet. Individually, Senior Stephen Fiorentino competed in the 60m hurdles, Senior Pat Hopkins ran the fastest time by a Methacton athlete at the state meet in the mile and Sophomore standout Nick Shaffer ran his fastest 200 meter dash time and a new school record of 22.37 seconds, placing 8th and qualifying him for the indoor National championships. The 4x200 meter relay of Shaffer, Fiorentino, Kevin Capizzi and Griffin Bilicic took a 6th place, setting a new school record of 1:31.00 which also qualifies them for the National Championships. The mile relay team of Senior Tom Duffy, Sophomore John Lozinak, Senior Stephen Fiorentino and Sophomore Griffin Bilicic ran their fastest time of the year. Duffy and Lozinak both ran strong legs breaking the 52 second barrier. Duffy ran 51.9 and Lozinak ran 51.7 placing them among Methacton's top 400 meter runners of all time. NB Nationals ResultsUpdated on 06/10/2022 Zach Saunders and Nick Shaffer ran personal best in freshman 100m dash at NB nationals 11.25 and 11.28 finishing 11th and 13th. The 4x200m relay of Nick Shaffer, Kevin Capizzi, James Richet and Zachary Saunders finish 9th and set a new school record of 1:31.79. Track and Field: Boy's Locker Room InformationUpdated on 06/10/2022 Locker Room Guidelines and Expectations: 1. All athletes are to use the 2nd Floor East Wing Locker Room area next to the showers 2. Freshman and Sophomores will double up with lockers if there is not enough, If they prefer, they can use their gym locker. 3. T&F Athletes are expected to be gentleman and make good choices at all times 4. Athletes are responsible for and should secure their personal belongings 5. Athletes are expected to keep their respective locker room areas clean and organized 6. Any locker room damage should be reported to the head coach 7. First Day of PracticeUpdated on 06/10/2022 The first day of practice is Monday March 2nd. All paperwork should be turned in to the boys track team mailbox, located in the athletic office prior to the first day of practice. You should be prepared to practice outside in all weather conditions. It is strongly suggested that you come to practice having done some conditioning prior to the first day. In order to determine our junior varsity and varsity rosters, time trials will be held as soon as the weather will permit prior to the first meet on Saturday March 21st.
