Warriors Win: 15 - 5
Kacala's 9 Point Evening Spooks the Phantoms The Methacton boys lacrosse team is new to playing at home under the lights, as Tuesday's contest was only the second time in history for a home night game.  The atmosphere however, seems to suit them as they were able to improve to 2-0 on the year in that venue with a victory over visiting Phoenixville.   The first quarter saw lots of back and forth play with neither team able to take advantage.  Goalie Harvey Smith was solid for the Warriors, holding the visiting Phantoms at bay.  With under a minute to play, Senior attackman Aidan Denecke broke through for Methacton, beating the Phantom's goalie for his first of the day.  The Warriors would dominate the second quarter as they tallied four more goals while holding the visitors at bay to take a 5-0 lead into the half.   The second half would see an offensive explosion for Methacton as they found the net 7 times in the quarter, often behind strong unsettled play.  Junior Attackman Kyle Kacala lead the team with 9 points on the evening as he netted four while assisting on five others.  Goalie Harvey Smith allowed only one goal against in over 32 minutes of play.  The lead would be 12-2 at the end of the third quarter.  Each team would find the net three more times each to reach the final 15-5 margin.  With the win, Methacton improves to 8-8 on the year (6-7 PAC-10).  They face league leading Spring-Ford on Thursday in their final leage matchup of the year.       1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 1 4 7 3 15 Phoenixville 0 0 2 3 5         Scoring: Methacton:  Kyle Kacala (4G,5A), Connor Stevenson (2G,2A), Aidan Denecke (2G,1A), Stanley Kolimago (2G), Gil Price (2G), Connor McHugh (1G,1A), Kyle Derrickson (2G),  Phoenixville:  Belada (2G), O'Neil (1A), Lepliedo (2G), Jackson (1G), Bateman (5 Saves)

Warriors Top Big Red in First Ever Home Night Game

Warriors Win: 10 - 5
5-0 Fourth Quarter Fuels Warriors Victory There was a palpable excitement leading into this evening's game at Methacton's home field as it would see a Methacton first:  a home game under the lights.  Adding even more excitement was the celebration of the program's Seniors as they were honored for their contributions to the program before the game. The Warriors would ride that excitement and momentum and a 5-0 fourth quarter to their 7th victory of the year as they hosted the Big Red of Souderton.   The visitors got on the board first on the day as an individual effort beat Methacton Goalie Harvey Smith.  However, Ryan O'Toole would respond as he dodged past the Souderton midfielder and beat the goalie low to knot the score at 1-1.  The second quarter would be controlled by Methacton.  Despite Souderton holding a distinct advantage at the faceoff x, the Warriors were about to extend their lead to 5-2 with some quality unsettled play as well as cashing in on the man up opportunities provided by Souderton penalties.  Sophomore Stanley Kolimago would finish a Connor Stevenson feed.  Aidan Denecke beat his defenseman from X and scored an individual tally, while Kyle Derrickson scored on an extra man opportunity on another assist from Stevenson.  Derrickson would switch roles and offer the assist on the next goal finding Aidain Denecke on the backside of the play and the Senior captain didn't waste the opportunity as he put the ball away on a classic dip and dunk move.  That would be the final goal of the quarter with the hosts holding a 5-2 advantage.   The third quarter, however, would be all Souderton as they scored all three goals in the period to knot the game at 5-5.  Despite multiple offensive possessions the Warriors were unable to cash in.   With the game knotted at 5 apiece, the Warriors would display great resiliency and toughness as they created and finished a number of transition opportunities.  Derrickson broke the deadlock with his second of the day as Senior Eric Dietch found the defenseman wide open on the crease.  The 5-0 run would also see Denecke add two more goal and an assist as well as Sophomore attackman Kyle Kacala netting two.   Defensively, the Warriors head Souderton scoreless through the quarter.  Senior LSM Nick Salerno created a number of turnovers and collected a number of loose ground balls.  Seniors Andrew Benci and John Lausch also provided strong performances as they stymied the Big Red attack time and again.  Junior Goalie Harvey Smith made a number of big saves during the 4th quarter run to maintain the Warriors momentum.  Four of ten saves on the evening came during the decisive final stanza.   With the win, Methacton improves to 7-8 on the season.  They return to action tomorrow night at 7:15 in their home stadium for a second night game in as many days.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 1 4 0 5 10 Souderton 1 1 3 0 5         Scoring: Methacton: Aidan Denecke (4G,1A), Kyle Kacala (2G), Kyle Derrickson (2G,1A), Connor Stevenson (2A), Ryan O'Toole (1G), Stanley Kolimago (1G,1A), Eric Dietch (1A), Connor McHugh (1A), Harvey Smith (10 Saves, 5 G/A)

Warriors Win: 12 - 4
Defensive Effort Lifts Warriors over Pottsgrove ?Methacton visited Pottsgrove Stadium as the host Falcons were honoring their seniors on Senior night.  However, it would be the Methacton senior players who would shine is this matchup, as a strong defensive effort led to a 12-4 PAC-10 victory.   The Warriors got on the board early and were able to capitalize on extra man opportunities as they opened up a 5-1 first quarter lead.  The first half would prove to be the tone setter as strong defense held the Falcons at bay as an opportunistic offense would stretch the lead to 9-4 at the halftime break.  The second half would be a much lower scoring affair but the Warrior defense lead by Seniors Andrew Benci and John Lausch as well as Juniors Kyle Derrickson and Harvey Smith would hold the Falcons scoreless.   The Warriors saw four different players reach the four point mark on the evening.  Aidain Denecke (3G,1A), Stanley Kolimago (3G,1A), Connor Stevenson (2G,2A), and Kyle Derrickson (1G,3A) all tallied four points against Pottsgrove.  Gill Price added a goal and an assist while David Serratore and Nick Salerno each found the net once.   Methacton returns to action as they travel to Perk Valley on Wednesday night in another PAC-10 showdown.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 5 4 1 2 12 Pottsgrove 1 3 0 0 4         Scoring:    Methacton:  Aidain Denecke (3G,1A), Stanley Kolimago (3G,1A), Connor Stevenson (2G,2A), Kyle Derrickson (1G,3A), Gil Price (1G,1A), David Serratore (1G), Nick Salerno (1G)

4th Quarter Undoes Boys Lacrosse Against OJR
8.0 years ago | Nathanael Ryan
Warriors Lose: 8 - 12
Wildcats Prove Too Strong in 4th Quarter Methacton's Boys Lacrosse team hosted Owen J. Roberts, who currently stands at 2nd place in PAC-10 standings.  OJR opened the scoring with just under 3 minutes gone in the game with an individual effort that beat Methacton goalie Harvey Smith.  The Warriors however, would take control of the game late in the quarter scoring three goals in the final 3 minutes.   Junior midfielder Ryan O'Toole started the scoring for Methacton as he beat the Wildcats defense for his first goal of the day.  Under a minute later Senior Aidan Denecke found Sophomore Kyle Kacala on a great feed to take the lead.  Denecke then added one of his own with just 3 seconds left on the clock to extend the Warriors lead to 3-1.  Denecke and Kacala would link up again in the 2nd quarter to extend the lead but OJR responded under a minute later to cut the score to 4-2.  The action was back and forth throughout the quarter but the Wildcats capitalized on a Methacton turnover to cut the lead to 4-3.  Despite multiple opportunities for both teams the score would remain 4-3 to end the half.   Methacton won the opening faceoff in the 2nd half but were unable to finish in transition.  However, an offsides call on Owen J. Roberts gave Methacton an extra man opportunity and they would capitalize as Senior Connor Stevenson stung the corner off of a Ryan O'Toole helper.  O'Toole would net another to build a 6-3 lead but OJR answered back with a string of four goals to build a 7-6 advantage.  A Kyle Kacala goal would draw the game even at 7-7 with just 13 seconds left in the third quarter.   The 4th quarter however, would be dominated by the Wildcats.  Owen J. Roberts dominated the scoring outpacing the Warriors 5-1 to build the 12-8 final score.   Methacton returns to the field Thursday as they travel to league Rival PJP II as they hope to end their PAC-10 skid.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 3 1 3 1 8 Owen J. Boys Lacrosse Drops PAC-10 Game to Boyertown
8.0 years ago | Nathanael Ryan
Warriors Lose: 10 - 14
Warriors Fall on the Road Against Boyertown Slow starts have plagued Methacton this year and another slow start doomed the Warriors as their comeback fell short on the road against Boyertown.  The game opened with Methacton gaining possession on the faceoff and while they generated a good offensive look Boyertown goalie Gavin Yingling made a tremedous save to keep the guests off the board.  The Bears took the ball in transition and scored the opening goal to garner a lead that they would never relinquish throughout the game.   The Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals from Tanner Lee and Zack Derstine before Aidain Denecke would answer with his first of the day.  Boyertown extended the lead to 3-1 on a Jason Clinton individual tally, but Stanley Kolimago answered off a feed from Kyle Kacala to draw to 3-2.  Clinton again would find the net to make the score 4-2.   Boyertown won the ensuing faceoff and Pierce Wright scored what looked to be the hosts 5th goal.  However, an illegal stick penalty took the goal off the board and gave Methacton a man advantage for a 3 minute non-releasable penalty.  Unfortunately the Warriors were unable to capitalize as an unforced turnover lead to a Boyertown man-down goal.  The Bears would add two more man-down tallies and ultimately extended their lead to the 11-4 halftime margin.   Methacton came to life in the second half and despite sloppy play from both teams was able to outscore Boyertown 6-3 in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  The margin was cut to 13-10 on a transition goal from Freshman Jack Pellegrino with an assist from defenseman Kyle Derrickson.  Unfortunately that would be as close as it got as Boyertown scored the final goal as the Warriors were extending with under two minutes to play.   With the loss Methacton falls to 3-4 (2-3 PAC-10) and have a day off before visiting league foe Phoenixville on Friday night.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 2 2 3 3 10 Boyertown 4 7 2 1 14       Scoring: Methacton:  Kyle Kacala (3G,2A), Stanley Kolimago (2G,1A), Aidan Deneck (2G,1A), Connor McHugh (1G), Jack Pellegrino (2G), Kyle Derrickson (1A), Harvey Smith (10 Saves, 14 G/A) Boyertown:  Jason Clinton (4G,3A), Remi Brajkovich (1G,2A), Zack Derstine (2G), Dan Yednock (1G,1A), Tanner Lee (3G,2A), Skylar Wallace (1G), Mason Turner (1G), Keegan Schealer (1G)

Warriors Win: 12 - 3
Denecke Leads Warriors to Non-Conference Win Aidan Denecke has been the Warriors unquestioned offensive leader all year.  The senior captain continued in that role as he lead the Warriors with 7 points on three goals and 4 assists in the non-conference matchup with the Quakertown Panthers.   The guest Warriors opened the scoring in the first quarter as freshman Jack Pellegrino found the net on his third goal of the year on a Kyle Derrickson assist.  Ryan O'Toole notched the Warriors second on a Denecke helper. Denecke and Kyle Kacala combined for the next two goals as they took turns scoring and assisting.  Denecke would notch two more and assist another as Methacton opened up a 7-0 first quarter lead.   Quakertown would score the only goal of the second quarter and the teams would enter the half with Methacton holding a 7-1 advantage.   The second half would see Methacton extend it's lead with a flurry of goals coming from a number of different goal scorers.  Connor McHugh found the net with an assist from Gil Price and Stanley Kolimago followed with an individual tally.  Jack Pellegrino would notch his second of the day on anther Denecke assist.  The final two goals were scored by long stick midfielders as Dylan Henry and Nick Salerno both scored their first of the year.   Quakertown would add two more third quarter goals but the Warriors maintained a healthy lead throughout.  Junior Goalie Harvey Smith kept a clean sheet while Freshman Goalie Matt Wall played well in relief.   Methacton continues their schedule as they travel to Boyertown tomorrow night to face the PAC-10 rival Bears.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 7 0 4 1 12 Quakertown 0 1 2 0 3       Scoring: Methacton: Aidan Denecke (3G,4A), Jack Pellegrino (3G), Ryan O'Toole (1G,1A), Kyle Kacala (1G,1A), Kyle Derrickson (2A), Stanley Kolimago (1G,1A), Connor McHugh (1G), Gil Price (1A), Dylan Henry (1G), Nick Salerno (1G)

Boys Lacrosse Falls to PAC-10 Rival Perk Valley
8.0 years ago | Nathanael Ryan
Warriors Lose: 5 - 12
Lopsided First Quarter Undoes Warriors Visiting Perkiomen Valley capitalized on a dominant first quarter to down the host Warriors in a windy and cold PAC-10 tilt.  The Vikings got off to a quick start as midfielder Shawn Coulter opened the scoring on an individual effort.  The guests continued to hold the momentum throughout the opening period as turnovers, failed clears, and poor execution plagued the Warriors with the Vikings extending to a 6-0 lead.   It appeared as the momentum may be changing as an illegal stick penalty on Perk Valley negated their 7th goal and left the hosts with the ball on a four minute non-releaseable penalty.  However, a turnover by Methacton lead to PV possession and while the Warriors were extending to try to force a turnover Shawn Coulter beat the double team and scored man-down to extend the lead to 7-0.  Methacton was able to win the ensuing faceoff and executed a nice extra man opportunity as Sophomore Stanley Kolimago found the goal on a Kyle Kacala assist.   Methacton would cut the lead to 7-2 as the penalty expired and Ryan O'Toole beat the PV netminder on another assist from Kacala.  Perk Valley would add two more and Stanley Kolimago scored again on an extra man opportunity to close out the half with the guests holding a 9-3 advantage.   The second half would see more even possession, however, the guests continued to outscore Methacton to close out a 12-5 PAC-10 victory.   Methacton returns to action in non-league play on Tuesday of next week as they travel to Quakertown.       1st 2nd 3rd 4th final Methacton 0 3 1 1 5 Perk Valley 6 3 2 1 12       Scoring: Methacton: Stanley Kolimago (2G,1A), Kyle Kacala (3A), Aidan Denecke (1G), Jack Pellegrino (1G), Ryan O'Toole (1G), Harvey Smith (12 Saves, 12 G/A)

O'Toole leads Boys Lacrosse to PAC-10 Win Over Pottsgrove
8.0 years ago | Nathanael Ryan
Warriors Win: 8 - 5
Warriors Overcome Sluggish Start Methacton played host to the visiting Falcons of Pottsgrove on a windy April day at Warrior Field.  Methacton jumped out to an early 2-0 first quarter lead as Ryan O'Toole and Cam Sikora each found the net on individual efforts from the midfield.   The second quarter, however, would be all Pottsgrove as Brendan Wurtz and Wyatt Porter each found the net to draw the game to a 2-2 tie.  The Warriors, behind strong faceoff work from Stanley Kolimago and O'Toole, would have much of the possession with little to show for it as the game stayed knotted after the first 24 minutes.   Pottsgrove would open the scoring in the second half as Porter tallied another individual effort dodging from the midfield.  Junior Captain Kyle Derrickson would notch the Warriors third goal just over two minutes later as he took a ground ball from the defensive end, cleared it himself, and beat the Pottsgrove goalie to drawn even.   The teams would exchange the lead again as Walton scored on another individual effort and Senior Aidan Denecke answered for the hosts on an O'Toole feed.  O'Toole would then notch another off a Kolimago helper to give the hosts the lead for good with just 2:35 minutes left in the third quarter.  Kolimago would again find O'Toole, this time on a man up situation and O'Toole caught the ball on the crease and buried his third of the day.   Kyle Derrickson ended the third quarter scoring his second of the day on a beautiful give an go in transition from Denecke.  Both Pottsgrove and Methacton would find the net once more each in the fourth quarter but the lead proved too much for the visitors as the Warriors closed out the 8-5 victory to improve to 2-2 Overall (2-1 PAC-10).   Methacton returns to action on Friday as they host league rival Perk Valley in a game that will have serious PAC-10 Final Four playoff implications.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 2 0 5 1 8 Pottsgrove 0 2 2 1 5   Scoring: Methacton:  Ryan O'Toole (3G,1A), Kyle Derrickson (2G), Aidan Denecke (1G,2A), Stanley Kolimago (2A), Cam Sikora (1G), Jack Pellegrino (1G), Harvey Smith (11 Saves, 5 G/A) Pottsgrove:  Garret Walton (1G), Wyatt Porter (2G), Brendan Wurtz (2G), Thaddeus Brown (8 Saves, 8 G/A)

Kacala, Denecke Lead Warriors to First PAC-10 Win Methacton hosted the Panthers of PJP II in their first home PAC-10 game and while the Panthers took the early lead, strong faceoff work and a big day from Sophomore Kyle Kacala and Senior Aidan Denecke led the Warriors to their first win of the 2016 season.   Despite winning the opening faceoff, Methacton trailed early as Pope John Paul II opened the scoring just over a minute into play as they found net in some strong transition play.  The Warriors answered back just 10 seconds later as Junior Defenseman Kyle Derrickson picked up a ground ball off the faceoff and found the net himself for his second goal of the year.  Methacton scored again 20 seconds later to take a 2-1 advantage as Sophomore Stanlet Kolimago won the faceoff and beat the Panther's netminder.   The Warriors would however, see that lead dissipate as the visitors found cutters on two separate occasions to take a 3-2 lead.  Senior Gil Price scored his second of the year on a feed from Sophomore Kyle Kacala and the Kacala added another on a Denecke helper to take the lead for good with just under three minutes left in the quarter.  Kacala netted three in the second quarter and Denecke added the final tally to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.   Methacton would dominate the second half outscoring the visitors 4-1 over the final 24 minutes.  Stanley Kolimago and Ryan O'Toole controlled the x going a combined 14-22 on the day.  Junior Goalie Harvey Smith made 7 saves will allowing only 5 goals on the day as well.   Methacton returns to action on Wednesday of next week as they play Pottsgrove in their third PAC-10 tilt of the year.     1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 5 4 2 2 13 Pope John Paul II 3 2 1 0 6 Scoring:   Methacton:  Kyle Kacala (5G, 3A), Aidan Denecke (4G,1A), Kyle Derrickson (1G), Gil Price (1G), Ryan O'Toole (1G), Eric Dietch (1A), Harvey Smith (7 Saves, 5 G/A)

Warriors Lose: 7 - 16
Warriors Fall in Home Opener The Warriors opened their 2016 season by hosting the Patriots of Great Valley and the visitors proved to be too much for the hosts as they jumped out to a quick and decisive lead which proved insurmountable.   Great Valley opened the scoring in the first 15 seconds as ther long stick midfielder took the opening faceoff, evaded defensive pressure and found the net.  The visitors would use a suffocating defense, strong work at the faceoff x, and outstanding shooting to build an 8-0 lead before the hosts finally found the board on a Kyle Derrickson goal in transition off a feed from Aidan Denecke.  Great Valley extended the lead to 10-1 until a heads up play from sophomore Kyle Kacala as he found the net after a feed from Senior Connor Stevenson as the clock hit zero on the first half of play.   The second half saw more balanced action as the visiting Patriots outscored the Warriors 6-5 over the final 24 minutes.   Aidan Denecke lead the Warriors in points with 2 goals and 2 assists while Sophomore Stanley Kolimago added two goals.  Senior Gil Price added a single tally while Kacala and Derrickson added one each.   Methacton returns to action tomorrow as they travel to league foe Owen J. Roberts to open their PAC-10 schedule with a 7:00 pm night game.       1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final Methacton 0 2 2 3 7 Great Valley 7 2 3 3 16
